View Full Version : Amiga CD32 Final XML Format

The first time I did the Amiga CD32 Wheel and BoxArt I used a mock No-Intro format for the naming convention.
I am now trying to get a minted, complete and final version of the xml, wheel art and 2D boxart ready for HS.
I have ruled out using WHDLoader naming format as WinUAE can now mount images stand-alone without WHDLoad. I have happily used WinUAE for CD32 gaming without WHDLoader for some time. Just say no!
My question to the community is whether or not to stick with the mock No-Intro fomat I previously made or to switch to the similar and supported Darkwater naming convention? I'm leaning towards Darkwater as it is supported and not just me making it up as I go along plus I use it for my Sega Saturn stuff and its been really nice and easy to use. Please don't suggest TOSEC because its not going to happen (I enjoy the little sanity I have left thank you)
So, current homebrew mock No-Intro or switch to Darkwater?
P.S - I've nearly ready with all the Box art and wheels, I just need to finalize the xml and do a community re-check to make sure all the games are included/no hacks, homebrews, bogus titles are included.
Cheers

I'd say keep No-Intro since it's what seems to be the rule here on HS, but personally doesn't really bother me if you choose one way or another, isos will have to be renamed anyway to match that naming.
When the minted set is ready I will start working on the videos for it then, I do have some problems with a few games not running at proper speed so I might need some help to see if I can fix those particular cases otherwise videos for them would look really bad.

Use the redump.org format. (based on no-intro) It's far more suppoerted then any other. I have a tool here to convert their dat to the HS dat. Let me know if you can make use of it.

P.S. Any contibutions to the http://www.redump.org wiki are more then welcome.

After doing a search on the site i couldn't find anywhere cd32 is being actively supported by redump. I am missing something or missing where it is? Or are you saying to just use the naming convention?

- I'm going to keep working on the genres of the xml and some of the peripheral data but I will hold off making a final decision on the naming convention until further input on it is forthcoming.
I'm also going to post a list of games for the system here that the xml has so far and any additions/subtractions can be discussed by the community before a minted ver. is released. This is essential because there is no clear cut list anywhere of what games were actually released on this system. Hopefully HS can have the first definitive ver! (and yes I know all about the HOL database and have discussed its issues in another thread ad nausea)

He was talking about naming, redump is actively supporting cd32 though, but it's far from complete. But it does have some games that are missing from TOSEC set.
My iso set basically consists on TOSEC + redump, and then a couple of games that aren't on both sets. Ideally I'd only use TOSEC+redump since they are perfect 1:1 dumps.

I think my current xml has every single game released as CD32, but there is a grey area since as you know some Amiga CD or CDTV games could also be played on CD32, some of them even got repacks showing the CD32 logo.
For me it was easy though, since I'm having a CDTV wheel, I put all CDTV games on that wheel instead.
Do post your game list that will help sorting things out and you can get input from everyone.

Almost finished with this. I'm using the No-Intro style naming that was used for Sega CD, Dreamcast etc. Just working on the genre info. I'll be sure to post a list of games prior to it being submitted so the community can discuss it as their is no one definitive CD 32 games list. Hopefully this will be the next best thing and at least definitive for HS.

Are you still working on this?
If you are short in time I can give you a hand filling the missing info.

I want to start doing the videos for this set, but been holding it until we have a minted db so I don't have to rename everything later on.

Ok, good to know. Let me know if you need help, I will have some free time next week and can help you fill in all the boring info on the xml if you want.

Are you including the CDTV games on your list? I will add them as a different system on my setup, personally I think it's better this way.

Wasn't planing on adding CDTV as this was a CD32 only xml.

Ok, great I totally agree with you. I was just asking since CDTV games also work on CD32 and some people have them together on their sets. I think having a different wheel for each is the best way.
I might start working on a CDTV database then :)
