First of all i would like to say WAY TO GO for a beautiful FE!!! You're hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated and admired!!! Unfortantly, i am have overwhelming problems with this front end. I read that this front end is easy, even for novice users. But i can't get anything to work. I am very experienced with front ends and have built my cab from scratch and enjoy playing it always. I got goosebumps when i seen this FE! I have downloaded the torrent, but when i run it i can't get any of the games to start. If the emus and roms are needed, i don't know which folder to put them in, which makes configuration impossible since there are no roms to read in order to configure them. I would hate to put this on the shelf until it grows more, but i feel i have no choice since this is still new and needs lots f work. any type of help would be great cause my Cab is dying for a FE like this one, really want to show it off bad!!!!

Thanks for reading this and good luck with this project, again it is truly beautiful!!!

OK well, you say you're experienced, but you must set your paths just like any front end!

The roms are not included in the torrent. Use Hyper HQ to set your paths, or you can edit the ini files for mame that are under the settings folder.

What does your log file say? Its right in the main directory. Likely it says "file not found" or something along those paths.

Check the wiki as well. Everything you need will be in there. Sorry, not the best answer in the world, but we need to know where you stand.

daggerlee, the above post is absolutely correct... Setup on this FE is exactly like any other. We DO NOT include ANY games/roms and the paths to your roms needs to be configured. Using the new version of HyperHQ can help in getting your paths setup, you will need to specify the path to your emulator and to your roms folder for each system.

If all else fails, look at the log file that is created in your HyperSpin directory. This file should state why the game did not launch.

I tried to set the path, but there seems to be no game list. it the other options. i will keep trying , i just cant seem to put this down.

Well HS (kinda) only supports games that there are themes for. What does your log file say? Post it and we'll go from there. Its in the main directory. Just copy and paste

Yeah, definitely not finding your rom files. I assume you do have these roms right?

If you fire up your mame32 (by itself), can you play (for example) track and field? Street Fighter 3?

You don't notice anything wrong with that path at all? I very much doubt it's correct... especially since you have a roms directory within another roms directory.

It thinks your roms are in a subdirectory called roms eg...roms\roms usually its only one level deep. Verify that

I noticed the roms directory too, and was going to ask that, but I figured that I'd see what happened when he used it outside of HS.

Well, to answer your emu question. Use whatever emulator you want. Just make sure your roms are named via the No-intro naming and not goodset naming. The emulator needs to support command line launching.

If there isnt a theme for a rom you want, I suggest you take a peek on how to use photoshop and hypertheme to make some themes. If not, just relax and someone will be making one shortly enough. You could add an entry to your xml, but it would be a blank page

Doesnt matter really. Photoshop is used to pull certain images off of artwork, and for effects on the artwork. All of the images are put into Hypertheme to create your theme. Go check out the theme building part of the forum as there are some great videos and tutorials there
