I noticed MAME themes are constantly being added to HS and there is no set version (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc...)
Since this is the case would it be possible to break up the Minted MAME Wheel set into a matching folder with individual wheels?
Reason being:
If someone downloads 850 themes and then downloads the last minted MAME wheel set they aren't going to see wheel art for 50+ games. Then you have to go through and figure out which games don't have wheels and extract them from the theme zip files.
The easy way would be to:
1. download all MAME themes into theme folder (overwrite if source is newer)
2. download all MAME wheels into wheel folder (overwrite if source is newer)
Then you would have an up-to-date MAME set, easy as pie.
Maybe I'm overlooking something, but this seems like the easiest way to keep my MAME wheel current.

Would be easier if instead of re-downloading everything which uses server resources you just checked in with the download section once a day or every other day. As new themes are approved add them to your system. They are listed in the order they have been added so very easy to tell what the newest stuff is unless you can't remember what the last theme you put in your system is. This is the easiest way to keep the wheel current.

Unless I am mistaken, the minted wheel set on the ftp includes ALL MAME games that are working (minus some clones, mahjong, and mature). Some wheels are occasionally improved in the MAME wheel thread (http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4984), but jhabers updates the minted set regularly. I used to just grab the wheels individually when I needed them, but the whole minted set is relatively small so I recently installed the whole set myself.
So, in other words, just get the minted MAME wheel set off the ftp and you should already have the wheel for any new themes that are created in the future.
And as far as keeping your themes up-to-date, new themes are listed first in the MAME Game Themes download section (http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/downloads.php?do=cat&id=129).

Nothing gets re-downloaded. If you choose only over-write if newer it only picks up the last 3-4 themes that were uploaded.
As new themes are approved add them to your system. They are listed in the order they have been added so very easy to tell what the newest stuff is unless you can't remember what the last theme you put in your system is. This is the easiest way to keep the wheel current.
You still have to manually go through and extract wheel images from each theme and place them one at a time. That's not easier than what I proposed.

Ah ok, I didn't know this. I had just noticed a bunch of games without wheel art and I had recently installed some new themes so I figured they were related. It appears those games are just non-working titles without wheel art then. Thanks for clearing it up for me!

I say you have a separate minted set for themes, wheels, etc. and continue to add to them so that when someone new comes along they only have to grab the minted sets and not hunt for individual files. Then when you want to update it should look at your current files and ONLY download what is New that you are missing.
