How do you start roms to play in Hyperspin?

In Hyperspin, I selected MAME then Asteroid. What key do you select to play the game? Used HyperHQ to point to MAME and Rom folders.

Im working on the controls part of HQ right now, but for now its the ENTER key.

I pressed enter nothing happens. The wheel will show the game video and art but nothing else happens except the joystick with system next select pops up.

Looks like the rom is the problem. Is there a specific one? I will try a different version.

It looks like there is a space before the name asteroid and after the \ on your roms path. Look in HyperHQ at the path you have and make sure that you do not have a space after the last \ on your roms path.

How do I close the space on that portion? Looked at mame cfg no space in rom. How do you access the cfg for a specific rom?

I looked in HQ there is no space.

Check your xml file, if the rom name has a space there then it would carry over to the command line.

Open MAME XML file. Under description the name has to be exact including rev 1 for example. Does this mean only the games under MAME XML with exact description can be configured? How can you modify it if a rom is different in revision?

Not the description field, but <game name="asteroids">
Just throwing out an idea, not sure its the solution. I'll look into other reasons you might be having that issue. Does it happen to all games?

I haven't tried any others yet but I looked in the MAME xml and located the rev 2 version and it worked. It didn't want to work with the standard or generic named rom. Thanks for the suggestion BBB! I'm relieved!:dancing2:

I was having trouble with loading roms earlier. Be sure your name exactly matches what the log is looking for.
