to use with hyperspin? i believe psxfin is the supported emulator. Are you using CRT or LCD? if its CRT i would recommend psxfin, its easy to use and runs great. if you want it to look decent on an LCD, you'll need to use ePSXe which has screen/texture filtering which greatly improves the look of PSX games at higher resolutions. Epsxe is not supported by HS which means you'll have to take a look at the AHK forum to get it up and running. Its not that tricky, but it wont be the walk in the park that psxfin will be.

pSX (or psxfin) is easily my choice. No plugins to deal with, and it's a more accurate emulator all around. It doesn't have the graphical bells and whistles of ePSXe, but it's the games I care about, not the gazillion little options offered by other emulators.

Are these emulators still being worked on? They all seem to have been abandoned long ago.
What is the latest or most compatible version of these emulators?
Also is anybody working on an up to date playstation emu?

I use psxfin. It's literally like a real psx in your comp. For me personally, every game i played as a kid i throw at this emu and it plays it flawlessly.
I never tried epsxe, but that's only because i've felt that i don't need to...

Thanks djvj this is exactly what I was looking for - I was beginning to think ps1 emulation had died or something!

I was a die hard psxfin.exe fan until I discovered there was no way to switch to analog controller mode in game. If you switch it to analog mode in the config it will cause all your non-analog games to cease functioning with controls. The only real solution if you wish to continue using psxfin.exe is to copy a second psxfin folder and configure it for analog. Then have all digital games point to the digital folder and all analog point to the analog. This option does require that you have a list of all games that are not compatible with analog controls of course (good luck making that list).
This is when I made the switch to ePSXe, which allows you to toggle analog in game by pressing F5 (which I macroed to a button press in Xpadder). Since switching I discovered the games look FANTASTIC in ePSXe whereas in psxfin.exe they just looked... like a PSOne. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but given the choice I just can't go back :)
