hey all,

you know how some of the games for daphne show up in the mame rom list...

-is it possible to play those games thru mame?

if so how do we set that up?

thx,

magostin

Not yet... MAME is starting to emulate Laserdisc games, but they do not use the same images that Daphne does. The images for MAME are about 10gb each.

Why not use Daphne? I don't understand the issue here.

i cant get it working.
my problem seems to be the daphne.exe
you cant use the daphne loader exe with hyperspin so by using the daphne.exe
i get the error message that you will get when double clicking the daphne.exe outside of hyperspin.

i don't understand how you guys get yours to work by using the path to the daphne.exe. im wondering if you guys have adifferent version exe or does it have to do with putting " " (quotes) around a path phrase somewhere within hyperspin or daphne??

i need help bad, im jonsing to play all my newly aquired daphne games thru hyperspin, they work fine outside of hyperspin.

i know their set up right, because they almost work with hyperspin but stop when the daphne.exe comes into play.

To run DAPHNE, you must specify which game to run and which laserdisc player you are using.
For example, try 'daphne lair noldp' to run Dragon's Lair in testing mode.

Im having the same exact problem. I get to the point where hyperspin opens up Daphne.exe and it get the same message. I need help badly too. I know this thread is old but maybe someone could help me out by bumping this thread up.

If daphne is giving you that message it means there is something wrong with your command line, are you launching with hyperlaunch?

Unknown command line parameter:
Files\HyperSpin\Emulators\Daphne\framefile\Astron. txt

thats the problem in the above config, the path needs to either be in quotes or somewhere with no spaces.

When you say command line, are you referring to the path hyperHQ creates after setting your exe and rompath? If so, then Ill take a look there and redo the quotes and spaces to see if I can get it to work.

As far as Hyperlaunch, yes, I have it set to hyperlaunch instead of normal in the HyperHQ wheel tab.

When you say command line
Yup, Hyperlaunch and HyperHQ (and you!) are responsible for the command line. The problem wont be in HL because stacks of folks use that script without issue. So that leaves either HyperHQ paths, or the issue with spaces in the path. Im guessing that your HQ paths will be ok so that leaves the spaces. Ive got a funny feeling you will be able to fix this by placing all your daphne stuff into paths that dont happen to have spaces in them. You could try wrapping your paths in quotes (probably the best place to do that would be the Hyperlaunch script), but that may mess up the daphne command line anyway. Do your paths have spaces at the moment? (Program Files would be the obvious one)

As far as the paths in HQ, I just use the browse tab to direct HQ where my files are and then it generates the path itself. Ive never had to manually type the path for my other emulators, but Im assuming daphne is different than the rest. Since Im trying to launch daphne using the "daphne.exe" instead of the daphneloader application, Im assuming this is the same as if I were to try to open daphne by going in the command promt (DOS) utility correct? If thats the case, then I can understand about the quotes and spaces not being correct for the paths that HQ creates after setting the paths for the exe and roms.

Im going to give this a try once I get home from work in a few hours. Hopefully I can get this emulator running because it would be real upsetting not having daphne working with hyperspin.

Thanks for the quick replys volumetric so far, its much appreciated.

Ill get back to you in a few hours to let you know the progress.

Nor should you have to, daphne should work just like all the other emus. you are correct about launching daph from dos, think of launching daphne (instead of daphneloader) as the same thing as launching mame (instead of mameUI). If you open a cmd window and type in mame with no arguments you get an error. It looks like the same thing is happening to you here with daph. If you are still stuck, post you daphne_log.txt file (in your daphne root folder), that should say exactly what is wrong with the command line.

Woohoo!!!!!:dancing2:

Thanks volumetric :shakehands:

It turned out that there were spaces in my path. One of my folders name had a few spaces in it so I had to change the name of it. By changing the name, I had to go in HQ and change all the other paths for my emulator and roms. O well, its up an running now. Thanks a ton buddy. Much appreciated.

Why not use Daphne? I don't understand the issue here.

Performance-wise, I'd rather use Daphne than MAME for laserdisc games. However, for someone like myself who is an artwork enthusiast, MAME is always the go-to because Daphne lacks any kind of artwork or bezel support.

I could of swore there was a way to load Daphne roms instead of MAME but I cant remember how.

i.e select Dragons Lair in MAME & it loads the Danphe one instead

any ideas
