View Full Version : Top Gun Light Gun
Does anyone use the Top Gun light gun with MAME and an LCD TV?
If so, how do you like it? Is it accurate? How difficult was setting it up?
If not, what do you use instead (assuming you have an LCD tv)?
Does someone sell these pre-modded? Are there any videos of them being used with an LCD TV and MAME? I'm mostly looking for something I don't have to mod since I'm not really savvy with wiring/soldering, which is why I was looking at the LCD Top Gun.

I was worried about soldiering and such as well, but this kit took me all of 10 minutes to put together, and another 30 or so to calibrate it to my 42" LG Plasma....
You wont regret it.

Cool, thanks for the help guys!
One more question, how do you think the LEDs would work on an LCD tv? I'm not using a cabinet.

don't bother with the topgun light gun, i have one and i would describe it as junk, its so un-accurate i can not enjoy any games, i have a 37" lcd by the way.
That's no good lol. I don't want to do AimTrak I don't think. It seems like the LEDs would look like crap on my LCD since I don't have a cabinet to hide them...

Drakin was making and selling them here, he did a pair for me, pretty sweet to.

guse, I have my 60" LCD mounted on my wall with one of the IR boards velcroed on top of it and you can barely see it. My TV is mounted high though, so you would never see the board if you weren't looking for it, sits very flat. I also took a black sharpy and colored in the board.
I also got this wireless bar and painted it black for above my 27" monitor to do testing. It works, but I never tried it in my living room.

Cool, I might just try to buy some pre-modded ones from Drakin if he's still doing that. My TV is on an entertainment center but coloring it in with a sharpie may workout. I was worried about how flat it would sit and if it would even work right but sounds like it's fine for you. Thanks for the help!
