I was using an xbox 360 controller to play some emulated games, and decided to set up the controller to navigate the Hyperspin menus as well. So I enabled the joystick 1 in Hyper HQ. The controller works fine on the main menu but freezes on any sub menu.

I have to completely exit Hyperspin for anything to work again, even the keyboard. However, I can leave the joystick enabled and the controller plugged in and use the keyboard without any problems, provided I don't use any controls on the xbox controller until the emulator loads.

If anyone has a work around or fix for this please let me know.

It does not work for me. I have to press the Xbox 360 wireless controller guide button in order to use the gamepad in Hyperspin itself. Otherwise I can't control it. Seems to loose focus when Hyperspin is started (with intro) Using Windows XP 64 bit. I am on 1.2, fresh install. All emulators I tried sofar work with this gamepad, so must be a HS problem.

I hooked it up wired. (through USB play and charge kit) Can't test it wirelessly right now. Battery is dead. Could this the same old USB bug that was happening with keyboard auto spinning?

The play and charge cable does not connect the control to the PC, it simply charges the control.

In combination with the "Windows Wireless receiver" you can use it without the battery, just try and see. While at it check check if you encounter the same bug.

I see what you meant.

Stupid question, but you did set up Hyperspin to use the joypad in HQ right?

Yes I did and it does work, but I have to press the Xbox guide button (that green big ugly button) first in order to get focus in Hyperspin. As far as I can tell it is doing this because Hyperspin is not started in true fullscreen mode. I am not sure though, but the manual of the wireless gaming receiver states the status indicator won't show in fullscreen mode. So I assume Hyperspin is not running in true fullscreen mode then.

I'll try wirelessly today and report. The quick charger should be in today.

Merry Christmas everyone! Anyway, I got a Street Fighter IV FightStick for Xbox 360 as a present from my wife. It works great and even sets up just fine in HyperHQ, but it doesn't work at all in HyperSpin. I have the 1.2 update, and I've tried manually setting the Joystick ID to 0 in the Settings.ini (it was already set at 0 when I checked it BTW) and still no dice. I checked the log, and this is what I've got:

08:36:44 PM | HyperSpin Started
08:36:44 PM | Going FullScreen
08:36:44 PM | Checking for updates
08:36:44 PM | Update Check Complete
08:36:44 PM | Startup program unavailable
08:36:44 PM | Playing intro video
08:37:02 PM | Error intializing joysticks
08:37:02 PM | Menu Mode is multi
08:37:02 PM | Loading Main Menu.xml
08:37:02 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded
08:37:03 PM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully
08:37:12 PM | Exit program unavailable
08:37:12 PM | Quiting Hyperspin
08:37:12 PM | Bye!

I keep getting the Error initializing joysticks. I've replugged the joystick, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, I've even let Windows install the drivers automatically and still nothing. It works fine in the Game Controller properties in Control Panel, and it works just fine in all of my emulators, just not HS. Please help! Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: Well, I've had a bit of a breakthrough. The stick will control HS just fine after I run an emulator :/ For example, I'll start a game in MAME, and when I exit, then the stick controls all of the functions like it should, but as soon as I exit HS and restart it, the stick stops working again unless I start up an emulator. Kind of annoying to be honest, so if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong or something I missed, I'd greatly appreciate it :)

It doesn't work for me either using the Xbox 360 wireless controller using the wireless receiver. Windows XP 64bit correct drivers from Microsoft. It works from within Windows itself. My log is the same as yours. In HyperHQ the pad seems to work fine. It is found as JOY ID0 and I can configure buttons.

Try setting the joyID to 0,1,2 and different numbers just in case to see if it starts working. If your using the wireless reciever for an x360 try using a powered hub also if your not already. Theres a known issue with that.

I think I have found the problem. Somehow the START button (button 8) on the wireless controller is by default mapped to the ENTER button on the keyboard. If you don't set that button (button 8 on the xbox 360 controller) to anything you can normally use the pad in Hyperspin.

You still have to press the Xbox guide button in Hyperspin to enable you to use the pad in Hyperspin. It does behave normally now though, although the START button (button 8) is mapped to the exit menu.
