well, off the top of my head, there are several ways to accomplish this, but I think the easiest would be to allow windows to load fully, which means change the windowsxp splash screen. a quick google search will show you the way. Going this route lets you load your own version of the windows splash screen, so you can use that to promote your arcade by displaying it's log, or to display a Hyperspin logo...

then change the welcome screen to black:
Start > RUN > type in the following > REGEDIT
1) Navigate to:
HKEY USERS\ .DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
2) Double click the wallpaper value, and type in the full path of your image and the filename.
3) To tile the image set "TileWallPaper" to 1
4) To Stretch the wallpaper set "WallPaperStyle" to 2
5) Close the registry editor and the changes will take place when you Log off.

then change the natural windows wallpaper to black as well. then just add Hyperspin to the start menu. This will load Hyperspin as the first user action, as well as give the impression the machine is dedicated to this task without revealing too much of WindowsXP. You could also attempt to supress explorer.exe from loading so the startbar never displays, but I wouldn't advise it, purely from a standpoint support after the fact. It would be a pain to have to keep starting explorer.exe manually, but if this is acceptable to you, good luck.

I think if you're going to attempt to load Hyperspin as the first system action after the kernel you're basically on your own. You're going to have to stage boot windows to load all the resources for windows without engaging the GUI until Hyperspin loads.

Hope this helps

Why ? Credit where credit is due. Both Hyperspin and GameEX are great frontends, have great communities and are part of the collective arcade community so why not ?

iano you do realize this is Nologic? :)

I'm fairly sure you are aware of why I'm no longer part of that community.

So Tom can suck on my sack.

I was having a blonde moment (happens quite a bit). No, i didn't realise from reading this thread (should have guessed). It occurred to me today when i was reading BBB's thread on 'Dreamcast Renaming'. The style of writing and your knowledge of scripting gave it away ;)

Yeah I'm sure if I had rambled on for a bit here you would have picked up on it in no time at all. ;)

Hehe mainly if I started bitching about HK or Tosec\Dumpcast...or made some reference to someone taking a piss in my coffee. :p

I've always just changed my Windows splash screen and then put my HS exe in my startup folder, seems like the simplest way to me??
