So i'm a firm believer in the old "Try it yourself for aboot 6 hours and if you still can't get either smash yer monitor, or ask for help" method.
I've spent about 2 hours trying to find a walkthrough on this site, but since I'm Canadian, maybe I can't seem to find it.
So here's my most time saving-detailed explanation that I can give a pro:
I want to make a bartop arcade.
I need the software, got the hardware.
Found, downloaded, installed ALL the updated MAME-ware that's out there.
Can't find a single ROM that works with new updated MAMEUI32 / NEOGEO BIOS.
(I started with street fighter games, so I could at least figure the system out)
Had about 5 smokes.
Finally found a bundled Torrent with 18 fighting genre games, BUT is bundled with MAME32 0.81 (which is severely outdated I know, BUT it works fully with all bundled games)
Now I would like a spiffy Front-end, and hyperspin is by far the sweetest one out there.
Downloaded/installed the Hyperspin bundle torrent.
SO now i place all the appropraite files where they should be in the proper Hyperspin folders.
I go to the "MAME" setting file, and edit the appropriate strings:
[exe info]
path = F:\HyperSpin\Emulators\Mame32\
rompath = F:\HyperSpin\Emulators\Mame32\roms\
userompath = false
exe = Mame32.exe
romextension = zip
parameters =
searchsubfolders =
pcgame = false
winstate = HIDDEN
hyperlaunch = true
I test the MAME32.exe -without- hyperspin first to make absolute sure the game works. For example Ninja Turtles (4 player), and it works perfectly.
So I exit Mame32, and run Hyperspin.
I choose MAME
I choose Ninja Turtle form the list
The screen flickers, and I get a nice window that says files are now missing, which i list below this post if it matters.
So I have to ALT-F4 to close the window that keeps popping up to torment me, I tun Mame32 again and try to play Ninja Turtles again only to find now that it won't work in Mame32 either. Even though it just worked 5 mins ago.
5 more smokes and a beer.
That's pretty much as detailed as I can get. If I need to post some sort of string text to help resolve this please let me know.
Thank you for your time
James
