Why HyperSpin Downloads have a 3 minute wait time between downloads ?
is it necessary ....

Yes it is. There are ways around it.
A. Become an active and contributing member. Create some themes , Write some configs etc. EG give back to the community. We have alot of leechers..... People that help are rewarded.

B. Donate. The HS team puts in alot of time and time is money. Running web sites is not free and niether is forum software. So again this falls under contributing.

You may have noticed we dont have any annoying ads so we have to come up with something.

Can you think of a better solution?

Im all ears :)

Warm regards
Brian Hoffman

it says I need to donate money?I think you are reading it incorrectly... It is telling you that you have to wait a specific time before you can download another file.

Clear your cookies and internet files. close your browser and try again. You should be able to download everything here. Just have to wait 3 minutes between downloads. If that message keeps coming up its due to a cookies issue not telling the site you waited.

so, in order to get past that 3 min wait, all I need to do is delete my cookies after ever download?

seems simple enough...

seems simple enough...No, cookies shouldn't have anything to do with the timer... The server keeps track of your last download. If you don't like the download time here then go checkout the VPforums for Visual Pinball tables and wait for their 5 minutes, you'll be glad that you only have 3 minutes here.

The 3 minute download timer is to keep people from raping the server and downloading everything in rapid succession. If you want faster downloads then donate... The server space and bandwidth required for the downloads here isn't free to run.

I don't want to seem cheap (because the way I ask is going to make imply something that I don't mean to), but how much do we have to donate to get rid of the time limit? I want to donate something anyway, but I'm not exactly rolling in cash over here. If nothing else, I'll donate 5 bucks, but if I have to take it to 10 to get the limits removed, I probably will.

$10 brings the time down to like 30 seconds or so... (that's what I did when the HS beta went public)... still says you have a 3 minute wait though... so maybe it just creates a localized time warp thing?
its a nice compromise between going broke and supporting a very cool software effort... and 30 secs or so isn't bad, by the time you vote, then cruise to the next item to d/l, the time limit is either up, or on its last few seconds...

the only bit that bothers me is when its says I must wait 1 or 2 more seconds... why divert me to that screen for one or two seconds??? would it really be that hard for it to just pause!!!, or delay the d/l by a sec or two????:bawling:

3. Silver - $15 minimum donation. 15 second download timer.
4. Gold - $25 minimum donation. 5 second download timer.

you mean I gave an extra $5 for nothing:bawling:

I want a refund! (not really, I still think $10 is a good compromise for a FE that could easily sell fro $25-30)

With everything included, themes everything, it would retail for a hell of a lot more than that lol :D

This has to be like the greatest free front-end I've used. Even with the download waits I say just donate and get you time down.
