Maybe a good way to see what others are playing and discover some "new" games to check out.
If possible, link to YouTube or somewhere else that has some artwork or screenshots.

I'm currently working on going through, without dying, some of all time favorites since I have not played them in years. Used to be able to do that on the real cabs.

Chelnov (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F610PpbV1T4) - MAME

Xain'd Sleena (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd0bdS53qro) - MAME

Rygar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBQmYNYZkFM) - MAME

I'm playing quite a few others sporadically but i'm focused on these for now.

My big focus right now is Yoshi's Island 2 since I never got around to playing it.

It's fun, but losing baby mario is annoying.

Good idea. It's nice to see what others are playing. I sometimes wonder if there's anyone in here actually playing the games, or if all time is devoted to setting up HS...

Anyway, here's a few of the games I'm into at the moment:

Marble Madness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R13hp-l3cMM) - MAME (one of my all-time arcade favs, short but sweet)
Galaxian (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzitZv8Enmc) - MAME (another old-time favorite of mine)
Defender (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-xfYhPAyVM) - MAME (hard as hell, still struggling with the controls)
Dropzone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twjra-_3PRs&feature=related) - Altirra (possibly the best game ever for the Atari 8-bit computers)
River Raid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmPjsBDN9Xw) - Atari 2600 (great shooter on a classic system)

How about some friendly competition? Obviously, we all like to play games. And most of us probably like some competition now and then. I'm thinking about a "Game of the Week" or something like that, where forum members can post their scores for a certain game.

What do you think? Any interest?

have any of you heard of "Dropbox"? It's a pretty cool way to share high scores.

Currently I am playing Redneck Rampage (http://dosgamer.com/redneck-rampage/). I love this game, it's very entertaining!

Yes, I've heard of Dropbox. Maybe that's a way to go.

Sounds like a fantastic ideal! Wish somehow we could pit two members against each other, like network play. Shame that Mame does not offer native net play in their builds.

With dropbox, me and three other friends share the same dropbox. You put your mame hi-score folder in it and set your path in the mame ini file. Now every time i get a hi-score it shows up on there machines!

Good idea with Dropbox! Could be interesting to try on a larger scale.
It's a pity that MAME doesn't offer net play, but not much to do about that.
I was thinking of something simpler - like a dedicated area on the forum where the Game of the Week is announced, and members can post screenshots with their scores.

I'm currently trying to complete dragon's lair. W/out an FAQ. Also been playing tons of big buck hunter and solar warrior.

OK, so now that we have hiscore solution, what's everyone been pounding on?

I've been playing 1941 and Donkey Kong since those had scores way higher than I was able to do. Sorry to whoever wanted some chalenges on Burger Time ... I am so lost with that game ... wieners chasing me ...

Also, my strong games are Galaga, Moon Patrol, Xain'd Sleena, Chelnov.
