I'm looking at several solutions for a budget HTPC solution that can handle arcade emulation - even ePSXe and 'higher end' emulation.

Does anyone in here know how various emulators runs on the lower-end hardware, such as the ION 330/230 processors and the AMD Fusions? (all really popular for small and quiet HTPC boxes)

This* is all I could dig up regarding performance on the ION platform, but I am curious as to what other people have experienced.

Would the Zbox HD-ND22, powered by the Intel Celeron SU2300 be a better choice for a good HTPC that can run most emulators without issues?

Any thoughts - or has anyone in here tried something similar?
Thanks!

I saw a YouTube video of a guy running Hyperspin on a netbook and projector. It seemed to be okay but he was showing basic gameplay and setup. I have read many threads here and they keep saying the same thing, it all about the processor. If you want it to run great, go fast and multi-core.

I am in the middle of the road. I have a dual core AMD. Not too fast but not too slow either.

Good luck,
Andy

this lower end hardware may last you a few months but it will be more frustrating than it is worth. nowadays any PC or notebook for a few hundred dollars will be more than sufficient for this emulation. you'll thank yourself later :)

Same to me .. I have my Cab for over 5 years and just went to rebuild it with HS instead of MaLa. I firured very fast out that the old AMD Sempron 1500 will not make it. So I decided to slaughter my second pc at home, its a DualCore with 4 Megs RAM ... and HS runs . But still .. on the beginning video there is lag. In HS it works okay for me.

My next project will be a pinball cab with HP running ... I think in this project a actual QuadCore will work with 8 Gig RAM .... HS is very hungry for resources.
If you just wanna play MAME .. take an other frontend. Thats the cheapest way to use your equipment.

Cheers

I didn't know HS could run with only 4 megs of RAM, I didn't even know they made 4 megs of RAM these days. :D

I assume you meant gigs, but I couldn't resist pointing this out.
