Greetings! Here is a very early WIP. HS-theme for Namco's popular Japanese side-scrolling arcade shooter. the layout is not final, the characters are masked-out but needs to be cleaned. I'll update this thread with a proper screenshot later. かわいいゲーム =) Cheers

lookin' cool so far i think this game was also on Turbo 16 as well.. Must have the dudes hair move / blow in the wind separately from the ship floating as it does in the game that would make this theme top notch

Thank you all for the inputs & replies! mrclean is right, this excellent game was also released for PCE TG-16 but that was a butchered version and not a direct port since the "Namco Arcade System 2" hardware was much more powerful than the home consoles back then. I'll start with this theme as soon as the STARGATE theme is done. Thanks again for the replies. Cheers

Update: Greetings! Here is another early WIP. pic. (Sorry for the delay) I almost forgot about this theme and I just started working on this again, the artworks and title still needs lots of cleaning. I'm still not sure about the simple video cloud frame and will test a few other versions as well. Cheers

Greetings everyone! I resurrect this old long-dead thread because I just found my long lost ORDYNE WIP .psd files from a year ago that I had saved on an external HD that somehow ended up in the basement. I've cleaned up the characters and fixed the final layout and I'm pretty happy with the results so far, this will be ready for download soon after some final touches, better late than never I guess. Thanks for all the comments. Cheers

Update: Here is a video preview, I've added some animated fading/floating particle bonus-balloon effects like in the first in-game stage. This one is done and ready for upload I think. Cheers

This theme is now approved and available for download. It's also now in the minted set on the ftp.

Update: Here is a quick update for this theme. I was never happy with the cloud-video border and the photo-realistic cloudy background image didn’t match the cartoony feel of this game. The shadows for the title logo was also overdone and too dark. In this version I’ve used a simple video border with gradient colors to match the title logo and I also lightened the shadows a bit.

* Initially I wanted to add some muzzle blast flash animation for the characters gun for this update but all the styles that I’ve tried (as you can see below) just didn’t ‘blend in’ with the original artwork’s yellow engine jet effect. I’ll give it a few more shots before giving up on the muzzle blast animation for this particular theme.

Char temp muzzle blast effect (doesn’t match the cartoony engine blast at all)

Greetings rondar and thank you sir for the muzzle blast png, that was exactly what I had in mind but couldn’t achieve.

Here is a quick preview with it in action. I think a much slower and more random muzzle blast speed would look better for this game. Cheers

Theme uploaded(updated) and awaiting approval (please delete my previous Ordyne theme if possible)

Minor changes since the last screenshot:

* removed the orange color cast from the title logo and made it more yellow to match the jet engine colors better
* fixed the video gradient colors to match the rest of the theme
* removed the balloon particle effect and replaced it with clouds (looks less cluttered/busy)
* Darkened the bg a bit
+ some minor HS animation changes when the theme loads.

Video Preview: (I only added the muzzle blast animation to the red character since the green characters gun will be off-screen most of the time while hovering)

/EDIT: I’m not sure why but the muzzle blast speed eneded up a bit faster since the last flash-test preview. I found it strange since the timings and frame rates (120fps) are exactly the same. I’ll correct the speed and slow it down a bit before re-uploading. Cheers

UPDATE: Animation fixed and theme re-uploaded and awaiting approval

Thanks baddelov!

Unfortunately some minor detail slipped under my radar (a small part of the bg as shown in the pic below was left as transparent by misstake) and it looks as normal in PS but in HS it ended up as a black line. It is not a big deal but I’m a bit mad at myself for missing something like this despite testing and double checking everything before the upload. It must have been the lack of sleep I guess.

Tnx for the help baddelov! Should I re-upload the entire theme again or just the updated/fixed bg here? I’ll repack the theme and double-check it again before the re-upload. Cheers

Thanks baddelov for the correction update. I noticed that I forgot to give credit to rondar in the info.xml for the muzzle blast png image, that was very helpful and looked spot on. I was planning to skip on the muzzle blast animation because the versions that I tried didn’t look good with that artwork style :D so again tnx rondar for the help. Cheers
