As the title implies, I have a tankstick and I am trying to set up the default keys in MUGEN.

I found the config file but I am unable to get to correct mapping down.

Why not just configure the controls inside the actual game?

Dead easy using the in-game menu. I have a tankstick and did it this way. Super sweet!

Because then you have to do this every time the game starts......

You do? I mapped my keys for one game, one time. Then copy/pasted the config file it stores the keys in, to every mugen game I have. I never have to set keys again.

Yes, every time I start the game it requires me to remap the keys. Maybe I need a newer version or something.

Does anyone know what the numerical values for keys are saved in?

Just do what djvj said config one game look at the edit file and there you see the codes for the keys you want.
I have no clue on what you mean by having to remap the keys every time, are you sure you are saving the controls after editing them?

Make sure you are exiting MUGEN correctly. If you force close it, it won't save anything.

I downloaded the latest winmugen and its still not saving keys...

Does anyone know what the numeric values mean? It would be nice if I could get a key table so I can hand code the config.

djvj, Mugen config must be saved manually through the option menu even if he doesn't exit properly doesn't matter because it's saved on that moment.

Something is wrong there, I use several mugen versions and never had an issue with that, make sure your mugen.cfg is not read only. Not sure about the keycodes best thing I can do for you is you tell me what key config you want to use and I do that config here and pass you the keycodes.

I wanted them mapped to the top 6 player keys

ok brolly, it's been awhile since I played with mugen, but I know I only had to set them on one game. Just don't remember the specifics.

djvj, Mugen config must be saved manually.

*Slaps Forehead*
Steps
-Go to options
-Set configure your input for both players
-Go back to options
-Change Load/Save to Save
-Hit Enter

Ok, brolly's explanation triggered me to look for an explicit save method. Thanks!

Edit: Looking back on the previous comments, sorry for the miscommunication gents. Seems brolly mentioned it once before as well.

eheh I was pretty sure you weren't saving it.
Good thing you got it sorted.

Yeah djvj you don't need to, just configure it for one and then copy paste the controls section into the config file for the other games. It's probably how you did.
