Hi,
While waiting for the public release of Hyperspin, I like to ask a question if the following is possible as a theme.
Is it possible to setup Hyperspin so the backround is only a full screen video clip (like that at emumovies.com but in flv format) of a game that the Wheel is on (selected game on the wheel)?
ie. Similar to the way the old FE: Gamelauncher worked, but using the graphical Hypersping wheel as the game menu

DariuszYou mean like the new "Pin" style?
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C3AcpMRkUG4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/C3AcpMRkUG4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Yes, this is possible to re-create this theme with other systems as well. But a full screen video might not look quite as well.

Dass,
thanks for you reply.
Atleast I know that Hyperspin can create my theme requirements, which I hope to adopt for mame, and hopfully mearge other systems like model2 into the one game list menu.
BTW what do you mean with the statement:
"But a full screen video might not look quite as well."
emumovie HiQ movies are great resolution for full screen. I Just hope the flv format conversion equals the quality of HiQ.
Also does Hyperspin yet support favorite list?

It is possible to have the video flv as the background of a theme. Missile Command is done this way.
The "problem" is that the HiQ emumovies are 640x480. So if HS is configured as 640x480, all is good. No graininess associated with expanding the video to a resolution beyond what it was captured at.
However, most HS themes are designed for 1024x768. If you run your monitor at that resolution with a 640x480 flv as the background, it will look fuzzy/grainy. Circo realized this and captured a 1024x768 missile command flv just for this theme, and it looks super.
Since this is the exception rather than the rule, the emumovies flvs will remain HiQ 640x480, but there is a chance that some movies can be recaptured at a higher resolution if there is a desire to use that movie as the full screen high res background for a given theme.
Oh and yes, the flv conversion of HiQ 640x480 emumovies avi's is equal to the original. It should look just fine.

Thanks guy's for the replies. You answered my questions. I now look forward to Hyperspin being released in a few days time. I just hope my theme requirements for just only a full screen video with the wheel option is easy to set up.
Thanks

It is EASY.. Just dont specify any other artwork to show per theme.

I have been running HQ videos at full screen on my cabinet for a year or so. The look good on the big screen. I have an arcade monitor that runs 1024x768 so perfect for hyperspin. The only videos that really benefit from a higher resolution are vecor based games for the most part. Realize these games initially ran at extremely low resolutions so they scale well at 640x480.
