If I take away the (USA) within the rom name, what will I be missing out on (other than the fact that it won't say USA in the menu)

You won't miss out on anything as long as you only remove it from the hyperspin game DESCRIPTION in the game list, don't change the rom name because they likely won't match your roms.
Roms have already been renamed in the past. I'm trying to weigh my options with regard to:
-Renaming roms to match xml's
-Renaming xml's to match roms

It would be quicker to rename your roms because the no-intro dat is available to do it for you with the help of a rom auditor. No intro is the naming scheme used in the Hyperspin game list.

What we are trying to do with official HS xml files is that they will never change. Keep a romset with this name, why?.. because If no-intro changes their naming convention 4 times over the next 10 years like it has been, then you will never have to change your artwork names.
Emumovies is doing the same thing also. He will have official dats that are set in stone for life. So as no-intro keeps changing theyre naming convention then he wont have to make or rename the movies. Once you get one of our official xml's or an emumovies offical dat file then thats it for life. So try to keep a set of roms with the same name as either of those. Basically the current xml or emumovies dat wont change names over the years and the no-intro naming conventions change. We are taking a snapshot of the current no-intro dat and keeping that naming forever even if no-intro changes later.
If you start renaming your roms to what you want then you will also have to rename the boxart, the video and whatever other artwork we put out. So try to stick to the current xml, and if none then the current no-intro dat.
I wonder if the program "Tag&Rename" will make short work of this (renaming my roms)
Here goes......
Nope. lol
