I think it would be helpful, if when you open up a system and it reads the xml file Hyperspin would read your rom directory and color code the name of the games as to wether you have them or not. Green would mean you have the rom and red means that you are missing the rom. Games that have a theme would need to be done a little different as they have a picture and not just text. This would eliminate the user (friends or kids playing my machine)from clicking on a game that you don't have.
Hyperspin could also look at the color and if red do nothing or maybe throw up a message box saying that you don't have game.

I think it is an even better idea to have a rom list that lists

1) The games you and you friends (and nobody else) like to play.
2) The games that actually work.

I think color coding the potential thousands of games that you don't have silly since it unecessarily clutters up the wheel. The user experience is far, far better without them IMHO. I have seen a few kids at my place become overwhelmed when there is too much to choose from.
