Its looking very nice mate, i do have the same question as bill.
How much did everything cost if you dont mind us asking mate.
It's a UAII cab... I went with that design because it was easy to turn into a 3 part cab that was easy to take apart to move.
Looking good.

Thanks guys, it will be here on Monday!
3G as it stands without a PC.
3G? Wow, I built everything of mine and I think around $1200 total.

Cool.
How do you like the Electric Ice Buttons and the U360s Dazz?
Cool.
How do you like the Electric Ice Buttons and the U360s Dazz?I don't use either... I want to get a couple U360's but the colors they have do not match. And I have no need for flashy lights on my controls. IMHO they are just a waste and distraction.

true, but after seeing the blurry pics, I think I will eventually end up with them too... they just look cool...
besides, you just cant go wrong with blinky lights...

No offense Dazz but driver boards, LED lights, U360s, push/ pull spinners is all top of the line stuff and it cost $$$. I am not saying my setup is any better than yours because I don't even know what you have but before you go knocking the price, consider what I have installed in that box above.
In all honesty I did a lot of research before I start this project and along the way. About the only extra cost I picked up was Mameroom building the thing and the shipping for it to get here, total maybe 5-600 extra.

I think Im gonna go with the blinking lights, havent fully decided on the 360's yet even though I already have one here. Definitely a trackball.
Billpa and I were having a serious talk about purchasing one of those UAII's and doing a full on HS theme on it, it will be mostly dark in color with colorful graphics. Its still in discussion. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Bill.
There is no doubt that you can go cheaper, it's all what you want.
I'll be sure to take more pictures this coming week. All signs are pointing to Monday for it to be here. I will just be happy when it's in place, the major task of getting it downstairs into my basement.

Looking good mate! Love the CP graphics, did you get them off a website or put it together yourself? I've bought a couple of u360's for my build when I get around to it. Just curious, why the third joystick? Just asking cause I know the u360's are programmable. Is it something to do with having a restrictor on the 3rd one?

I just said "wow" as I forgot how expensive this stuff can get. 3k is not really bad considering having the cabinet custom built for you, crated and shipped. I know this shit can get expensive and it can get expensive pretty damn fast. Heck, getting the woman to agree and let me build my cabinet in the first place was a major hurdle. Having to tell her that I was going to spend 3k on it wouldn't have gone over very well and I wouldn't have what I do have. If the 3k wasn't a hurdle for you then more power to ya...
I personally built my cab from the plans for the UAII from Mameroom. This was before they even offered pre-cut kits or custom builds. This was before LED's and controllers were widely available. So, yes I am a little behind the times when it comes to that. BUT I just don't see a reason for me to install LED's... I'm just saying that I don't care for the extra bling and would find the blinking a bit distracting. That and the possible glare on the screen from the blinking controls when trying to play.
Currently, I have all Happ buttons and joys via an I-PAC4 and Opti-Pac. A couple months ago I purchased 2 push/pulls from GG and a couple rotary joys (Ikari Warriors) and just recently ordered a Tron stick. I honestly wouldn't mind having a couple U360's on my cabinet. I actually asked for a pair for Christmas from my woman, but not sure if she got them or not. Can't wait till I can get around to designing/building another control panel. Even with the technology being widely available now, I don't think I would ever do the LED's though... It's just not for me...

I had a member here help me design the overlay graphics.
The 3rd joystick is a restricted 4-Way. Even though the U360s can be software restricted, I wanted that true feel and a ball top.
~$1100.00 here. (I had a nice Sony 27" Wega to throw at it though)

When its all said and done, I will have about 5g in my setup... The PC alone going into it is reaching close to 2g.

Are you doing any other artwork? Like sideart, kickplate, or bezel? Those are a must for me.

I just got word from the shipping company, it is going to be here on Tuesday and not Monday.

Will the machine fit through a doorway or do you put it together in pieces?
Visitor Q

According to the specs on their site, yes. I just fit a pinball machine down there the other day and trust, it was big and heavy too. My back is going to be killing me come weeks end.
It ships in two pieces, cab and control panel.

Ok, cuz they look big, and my candy cab wouldnt even fit through my door, I had to remove the control panel and even then it was very tight to get through.

Trust me I will be so happy when its safely in my basement but yeah I was (and still am some what) worried about fitting it through the door.
The pinball machine was pretty wide as well with the head down but it made it. Should be a treat anyway you slice it. Fun! Fun!

Unless you drop it down the stairs, j/k... Must be nice to have basements, basements are extremely uncommon in California.

Strange as here in PA it would be uncommon not to have one, I guess it is more or less if it is a finished basement here.
Heh, here in Texas our soil would crush basement walls... If you have a basement here it needs some serious re-inforcement. I think I've only seen 1 house with a basement around here.
