Well this week I had way to much time on my hands and decided to collate the top 10 info from various sites to find the best Mega Drive games. Yeah I know it's hardly scientific but it's interesting none the less.

I made rather simple calculations here. I simply reversed the points so that number one rated games got ten points, two got nine, you get the picture.

For anyone who's interested column "B" in the spreadsheet houses my own personal list, what's interesting here is how much it differs from most other lists. Maybe when I owned the system I was a little older than the people who put lists on the web, maybe I'm just a bit odd, who the hell knows.

Without my vote Lemmings doesn't make the top 50! what's up with that? Makes a mockery of best of lists doesn't it?

If anybody wants to help restore some common sense into this list leave your top 10 here and I'll add them into the calculations at some point.

Wow, I notice the original Sonic doesn't make your list..? That was my all time favourite on the MD. A classic!

As for Lemmings, for me, I really only enjoy the PC version i.e; mouse control.

And......... Nnyeah... I guess Ecco wasn't too bad.

About Dang Time SOMEBODY mentioned Zero Wing as a GOOD game. I haven't played the Megadrive version, But I know the arcade game, and yes, there are typos in the ending too. I won't spoil it, but there is a consistency error with the dates. Note that at the engrish-fied intro, it says "AD 2101" and then note what it says at the ending... XD. Aside from that, Toaplan was ahead of thier time when it came to shooters. You get more points for not using your gun and using your grapple beam instead. Not to mention the kick-buttsia music!

I'll agree with most of that list. however was never a fan of the american footbal and hockey games. then again I did enjoy mutant league. why they never expanded on it was beyond me

Because it's EA, and they're the embodiment of greed. If they have a good idea on their hands, they'll rush it out / put DRM on it / cancel the idea altogether.

That's a pretty nice list. I'll add "Elitserien 95", which was the Swedish version of NHL 94. Very regional, I know, but it was a huge hit here.

I think the American Football and Hockey games don't really appeal to us English peeps at all, at least not when it comes to gaming. But try and find one UK citizen that doesn't enjoy a good footie (soccer) game!
I think it's all in the geography!!
