Where do I configure the dirs for Future Pinball? I have all the files but everytime I load a table it is telling me it can't load certain things but I can't see where I tell it the dirs to point to...???

Ok... I figured out where the files go but do I have to have all the roms under the install dir of the program or can I change it to another drive?

FP doesnt use ROMS... In the FP directory there is a TABLES folder and a Library folder..
It expects the files to be there.
As always its best to have the emu going outside the fe before integrating it into the FE

Understood.
Can you not tell it a different dir to look for these files "the tables" if I want to keep them on a hard drive sperate from the program?

I do not believe there is an option to select a different path for the tables and librairies, thus no, you cannot select a different path.

I think you are right but the setting has got to be somewhere like in a ini file or something. I don't understand why they would make it where you could not select a path...
So far I am not that impressed with it, this is the first time I have ran it. LOL! It kinda makes me a little sick when I play it, it's so damn fast! :puke:

If I were to buy an Xbox 360 and load up, I don't know, Operation Darkness (strategy game), I'd probably think "game control sucks, the graphics are more like the Xbox than Xbox 360, game sucks", but that wouldn't mean the machine sucks. Think of VP and FP as the hardware component, which is only as good as the software.
All that to say I found Metal Slug, any of the BlindMankind productions and Big Spender to be incredible tables that really show the potential of this software. FP has issues and one major issue imho (the nudging code) but I play around that one major issue and the others pale when compared to the overall experience.
What tables have you tried?
You might want to change the camera type by hitting F2-F5 (I think). I've found that some of the cameras make me really dizzy when playing in, but others are great.
Check out these pins.... Road Girls, Dead Hunters and Three Angels are AMAZING FuturePin tables. Cyclone is also very nicely done and plays almost true to the original. The Ferris Wheel doesn't spin, but other than that the pin is nearly perfect.
I really wish FP would allow the use of roms... That would allow some amazing re-creates to be done. Twilight Zone

Well even VP will play tables without roms.. But it would be really nice if there was a table converter.. This way you could use one program for both..
I never got a chance to look at the new VP this weekend but if everything is true it should be really easy to intergrate.

Metal Slug is the first one I load, as Metal Slug is one of my favorite all time games.
I think maybe I just need to switch the view like Dazz said. I only messed with it for a few minutes with no sound, so I really did not give it the full once over.

You can change your views by pressing the function keys... Maybe that will help you find a view that doesnt make you dizzy.

Cool Brian, I will give it a go.
It just seemed way too fast of moment when I played it the first time compared to Visual Pinball, with the scrolling and $hit.

It is very fast paced and exciting... Changing the views to a table down view will help.
oh, also if you are using a dual core processor you need to set affinity for one of the cores on the Future Pinball process. If you don't then it will run way to fast and will be un-playable.

Maybe that is part of my problem as well, although the new veiws did help out a lot. At anyrate, could you explain to me how to go about doing this please?
Thanks in advance.

JasonThis is for XP, but might be the same for Vista.
CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task Manager. Click on the tab that says "Processes". Right click on the Future Pinball process and select "Set Affinity". That will bring up a box with several check boxes. For a dual core system you will see CPU 0 and CPU 1. De-select CPU 1 and this will tell Future Pinball to use only that core when running. This will slow the application down to a playable state...

Thanks Dazz.
I will get it a try if I run into anymore problems but currently it seems to be working fine.

Hi Jason,
Take a look over at the FP Forum, the guys over there are a friendly bunch, and only too willing to help you. Personally I like to use the F11, F8 camera option in FP, which allows you to custom position, using wasd keys, rather than the scrolling view.
Also take a look at some of Popottes tables, particularly the likes of Pinball Pool, an awesome table recreator of older EM games and early SS.
Cheers Buz,
Now back to that download :)
Can`t wait to get hyperspin running on my pinball cab !
