I'll probably end up mirroring the background and ships so the video sits on the left as the video is below the wheel.

Animation is:

Twin Bee logo elastic bounce from bottom and squeeze.

Video from right spins 360.

Enemy ship from top and hover.

Twin Bee ships from bottom and hovers.

Bells rainfloat from top.

Any suggestions?

Maybe adjust the black level on the bells art.

Dunno exactly if the logo is good quality, but I can vectorise it rapidly with vector magic if you want.

Greetings RetroBorg ! I like this version much better than your "filler version/screenshot", the larger characters and BG looks great. ~The pink Konami logo looks kind of "girle" but I still like it =) it matches the game colors but still somehow hard to read (I blame my un-calibrated monitor)

Mirroring the BG/characters would definitely be a good idea as you mentioned and perhaps some angle to the video-preview screen + the additional changes that mike mentioned above about the black level adjustments and a vectorized logo. In overall it looks great already. Thanks for announcing this. Cheers

This game reminds me of one of my most played games on nes when I was younger, it was called Stinger, I wonder if theyre related, I cant play this one to check since my pc isnt hooked up yet.

I had STINGER on NES8-bit too, that was an excellent game but I had to blow on the cart in order to make it work before each-game, I still have it laying around in the basement somewhere.. it still feels like yesterday =).. I think that Konami/Nintendo just changed the title from TwinBee to Stinger for the Europian/US console market that that was a bad choice in my opinion since the name TwinBee definitely fits this game much better. Cheers

PS. I also love the other two arcade sequels of this game> (Bells & Whistles/1991") and (Twin Bee Yahhoo!/1995-Japan only)

Man I had no idea these were in the arcade and that there were sequals. I would have made themes for this already, thanks! I could really see a flash animation here, bouncing bells that change color???

mrclean: That is definitely the Japanese only " (Twin Bee Yahhoo! from 1995) on the excellent Konami GX hardware (same as Sexy Parodius, Salamander 2 etc);

That is also one of my favorite games of this genre with a great jap-poppy soundtrack. The 1991 ver. was called " Bells & Whistles" and was also a fun game. A trilogy theme for these excellent games would be much appreciated. Cheers

I originally was going to make them black but that's their colour on the flyer so I thought I would leave it that way but I might have a bit of a play around with the bells anyway.

Made some changes:

Mirrored background, twin bees and enemy ships.

Put video on left and angled.

Multicoloured Konami logo to match Twin Bee logo (not sure if I like it).

Vectorised logo thanks to Vector Magic.

After finding some more artwork I decided to change bell outline to black and dinger to white and added bells of all colours that are found in game.

Wow, it's simply great.

I'm glad you use Vector Magic like me, now : it's a very powerfull auto trace software.
It works very well with logos but with simple colored pictures too.

One thing : I'd prefer seeing the classic Konami logo that the modern one, as the game is from 1985.

This looks great! I do find the background and ships look slightly bland but that's probably just the original art.

Excellent job on this theme RetroBorg! The last screenshot that you posted looks great with all the additional changes that you've made. I like it very much. The only thing that I would change if it was my theme is the position of the KONAMI logo to the lower-right corner above "FREE PLAY" so that it underlayers the blue-flying ship, it draws too much attention away from the title logo in its current position. I also agree with EvilDindon/mike about the older version of the logo due to the release date of this game. In overall it looks amazing. Thanks and cheers.

Last suggestion :

I had another fresh look today at your theme and I'm not sure about this video frame. Maybe the color, maybe it's too simple, dunno exactly what looks wrong. Maybe you should just make the black lines wider (too match the size of the black lines in the logo) ?

It's always a problem for me, as I never have ideas for an original and good looking self made video frame.

Greetings RetroBorg my HS fellow from “Down under”! Nice to see you back in the theme making business again. I had almost forgotten about this thread and it feels kind of strange reading my own comments from three years ago in the previous pages of this thread.. man, how time flies..

I love the flash animations, it does indeed fit the game “cute’m-up” style and I’m sure it runs much smoother in HS. Looking forward to see this in action in HS. Cheers

There are 1167 Themes for mame in the minted set alone, you shouldnt have access to the ftp if you are not a gold member anyway...?

Sorry for the delay. I've done some work on it, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and some of the timing is still a little off. This is next on my to do list, though.

Finally got around to finishing this one up. I made the colors in the bg brighter to match the rest of the theme a little better. I also enlarged the video and centered it. The way it is now skewed makes it look like the ships disappear into the video as they fly away.

Yeah it was uploaded a while ago, but never approved til now. So it's a little deeper in the downloads section than other more recently uploaded themes.

Looks great by the way!
