hyperspin is kicking my butt. im still having issues on how to add games to this front end. i just can't figure out how to run romcenter to get the right names for my roms and so on.

I think if you get the paths right then it should just 'go' providing your roms have the same names as the ones in the xml, and as most people don't backup the roms themselves usually they are ok.
Slighty offtopic, but i have a question along these lines. Do the entries in the mame xml only includes roms that have wheel or themes? and the ones that don't are excluded?

you can set in HQ to only display mame games that have a theme as an option, but the mame xml that comes with HS .8000 is the full list of games available with mame .128 (i believe). You'll need to edit it to whatever games YOU have, but 'themes only' is the easiest way to not have any 'extra' games without text.
kushaba;
it should look something like this:
you have a rom, let's say it's donkey kong. the name of the rom file on your computer should be 'dkong'. In Hyperspin folder -> databases -> mame -> mame.xml
there should be an entry called:
<game name="dkong">
<description>Donkey Kong</description>
<crc></crc>
<manufacturer></manufacturer>
</game>
NOW, in HyperHQ you need to tell Hyperspin where your mame.exe is and where your rom folder is,
so that when you launch hyperspin it will see dkong and tell mame.exe to open 'dkong' in whatever folder you tell it to.
-----------------
with ROMLister
you want to tell it to make a list from your rom folder (if you only want the games you have listed).
the next screen will let you make edits to that list that it generates of all your games (perhaps you don't want to include mahjong games)
then you tell it you're going to export to hyperspin XML format - save it as mame.xml, and drop it in your databases folder (in the hyperspin directory) overwriting the default one and you should be set!
hope this helps, it's a lot more complicated sounding that it really is...
