First off, let me start out by saying WOW regarding Hyperspin!! I have been a gamer for a LONG time and have been too busy to play recently. Hyperspin has got me exicted about games again!!!

With that being said, it seems a daunting task to not only find most roms for each system/emu, but all the associated artwork to boot! This seems like it would take YEARS to complete:) I have thousands of roms myself but once you stop "collecting" (Mame and/or other "newer" emu's), you quickly realize just how much you are missing.

My question is....how many out there have a CLOSE to complete Hyperspin setup?

Mine has been close to complete for a long while now... All of the emus that I use are setup and running. I either have default themes or game themes for every system that I have on my cabinet.

That is quite impressive! I have always been a fan of emulators and mainly used my Xbox for the chore (easy and all under one roof gaming). I haven't messed with Daphne (ever, although now I will have to), Mame (in a LONG while) and some of the other more recent emulators (I just started playing with Naomi and Dreamcast over the weekend).

Unrelated: How good are some of the "newer" (chd) games running in Mame these days?

offtopic - but how is the naomi emu at the moment and also DC, there hasn't been a nullDC release in ages I don't think.

hs has got me back into retro in the last few weeks, updating my mame 1.03 romset was a bit of a shore but got there in the end and also added some new console rom sets.

I got a torrent for the hs themes. which helped somewhat but as it's always updated it's a little difficult to stay up to date. Perhaps it would be good for the HS to release theme packs once a certain amount of new themes are created (say, every 50 themes)?... or maybe that will stop people donating?

How good are the chd games? not great imo. I have a few but don't really bother and the new lazerdiscs ones i'll be giving a miss as well, seeing as they're like 12gb a piece, i'd rather get DC iso's instead if the emulation is good.

I have 7 systems complete to date, these have videos, themes(where available) and box art.

About 5 mins ago whilst seperating neo geo themes from mame I copied my batch file which copies a list of files from a list into the wrong damn folder, 3 times! the upshot of this is that I now have to filter out all the mame themes from neo geo as well now! Time to give it a rest me thinks.

considering i started on saturday a long way off but working quickly

lol!! That is me too!! Unforunately, I have a bit of an "obsessive" personality. I spent ungodly amounts of time the past few days just getting emu's working nevermind themes and wheels:) The Naomi (null) is a bit of a pain to work with as well as several others. Man, I just wish there was a complete HS package including 50,000 roms just working!! lol

My systems of choice are (in no particular order);

Snes
N64
PCE/T-16
NES
Neo-Geo
Mame
PSX
Dreamcast

I guess it's probably best to work on one system at a time but man, just the sheer amount of work it would take for even one (small) system...gives me the willys.

WOW!! 7 systems complete with videos AND themes!!! Which systems??

Complete is a relative term right now, complete to me means it is at a stage where there are no more resources that I have access to that can be added to it.

Also bare in mind that I don't have every rom known to man in hyperspin I probably have something like an average of 100 games per wheel derived from games I know and a few "top" lists".

Complete systems are...

Mame - Has all available filtered game list videos, available hyperspin themes.
Genesis - Filtered game list, videos, Box shots
N64 - Filtered gamelist Video's, box shots
Snes - Filtered gamelist Video's box shots
Atari 5200 - Filtered game list Video's Cart shots
Nes - Filtered game list videos, box shots
Amiga - Filtered game list videos, box shot

Like you I find it incredibly hard to stop something until it's complete(we're not unique most comp users are that way) there comes a time when it's counter-productive not to take a rest though with that in mind I will probably not do much with Hyperspin now for a month or so. Gives you a chance a catch up :D

where'd you get the genesis box shots? you should either release a set, or point me to it so I can release a no-intro set. that's been requested a couple of times!

My genesis box shots are a mixture of http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cat_id=3 and a set from usenet that look like they have just been ripped from http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowGames.php

I'll upload them to my ftp, take about an hr then I'll post a link for you.
