When I run games (i only tried MAME so far) the game comes up fine....problem is the screen is very very very dark. I can barely see the game.
And when i quit out of the game Hyperspin goes to a windowed (not responding) screen for like 40 seconds.....THEN successfully goes back to the game list wheel.
And yes, it works fine outside of Hyperspin......
Anyone help? pls?
thx

Thats very weird... I dont have that issue.
Goto the Log and paste the commmand HS is using to launch the game.. Then see if it does the same thing.
How much RAM do you have?

Hi Brian..
Here you go (my mame.exe and roms sit in my EMULOADER folder....) but i've had it for like that for years w/ no problems. GameEX works fine with that path too)

I have a P4 4800 with 4GB or RAM and a 8800 GTX Card so I'm more than fine in that department

Brian have you tried it with the intro video running? I have not. That is something different that I noticed in this log. Maybe there is some issue there.

Well i tried to turn off the intro video and it still has the same problem
is added a pic of it to my flickr acct

also, if you notice the game screen is partly cut off as well....weird
Now I'm not sure it makes a difference...but I have a dual monitor setup and my main desktop's native resolutions is 1680 x 1050. But all that rly shouldn't make a difference im sure

Actually the dual monitor setup might be an issue. There was an attempt to put support for that into HS but it never really went far. There were issues and it was dropped as a low priority. It is not always predictable where things will be placed on screen.
If you could try in a normal single monitor setup with a resolution of 1280x1024 or so and post your results that would be great.

that didn't work....i turned off my 2nd monitor and set my primary 1280 x 768.....widescreen monitors don't support that resolution you posted.
weird, i've been using FE's and MAME for years and never ran into this problem before...not too sure what to do
****something else i forgot to mention.....the games run very choppy for some odd reason. Like the sound is choppy.....its when the game first starts
***Also is the transition from quitting a game and getting back to the gamelist wheel rly that slow or is it just me? It takes about 30 seconds to get back to the wheel for me
does my mame settings file look right?

Not sure what the exact problem here is but might have to do with widescreeen resolutions, and HS might not look all that great on widescreen since its 4x3 standard theme designs. It will try to stretch but when stretching will cause it to slow down probably especially at resolutions above 1024x768.

try downloading the newest mame version, putting that into c:\mame, and just put the burgertime rom in the rom directory, then change your hyperspin settings to reflect the c:\mame
launch and see what it does

Well i kinda fixed my problem...
What i did:
I downloaded a fresh copy of mame form the mame dev site and put the files in the actual hyperspin folder.
Then i added a roms folder to the hyperspin directory and threw some roms in there
and presto.....it works...
BUT all the artwork doesn't show up now in game.
So I THINK i fugured out what the problem is..,,,maybe....and u guys can add to this theory. It has nothing to do with the path directory it has to do w/ Hyperspin being compatible with "In Game" art files
W/o the artwork files the games are fine. When i added them back in using my old MAME .exe the screen went dark again

ok heh...
well it seems that i needed to actually copy over my entire artwork directory into the Hyperspin directory...... :banghead:
now its all good....lol
but that just leaves my 1 question....is the transition form quitting a game and getting back to the wheel rly slow for everyone else too? like said it takes about 30 seconds for me..which is rly long
Hmm, well... I use MAME with the bezels and all artwork turned on in my MAME configs. I have my artwork in MAME set to crop though. MAME is installed in it's own folder on a completely separate hard drive from my HyperSpin install and all works well.
Wheel transitions are immediate for me and definitely don't take 30 seconds when coming out of a game...

Dazz are you using Vista? I have Vista 32. It's painfully slow.......any suggestions?
It's really bad....
This is a dumb question probably but I assume Gamepads are working fine for everyone? Now that I can see the screen and try to play for some reason my gamepad isnt working when launching a game via Hyperspin. But is fine in GamEx and Emuloader....weird

You don't happen to be running another browser or have any other flash apps open and running do you?
As far as I know gamepad support isn't fully implemented yet, you can use Joy2Key (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=227783) or Xpadder (http://xpadder.com/) to assign keyboard keys to your gamepads for now though.

No I'm not.....i hate Vista i swear. I hope HYperspin gets optimized somehow when there is the official release...if not i would be able to use it in a cab.....30 seconds to exit a game is crazy
Oh really? I didn't know there was no joystick support....thats pretty funny. I thought something was wrong.....geez am i the only one who didnt know that?

Sorry theres no gamepad support yet, it wasnt high on the priority list, but I will add it for sure since I have tons of retropads that I want to get working so this is a feature even I personally want.
As far as taking long to exit a game seems weird, so far your the only person to report that issue. When I exit emu's back to HS it goes right back to HS instantly. I'll try to see if theres anything that could be causing that.
I am using my laptop which has vista64 on it since you were wondering. But worked fine on my main computer which is xp pro.
Thanks for the feedback.

Kingb33: when exiting the emulator back to the wheel, during that long 30 seconds, do you see your hard drive blinking like crazy?
