I recently (two days ago) download all the themes available at the FTP site. My question is this: How many and which themes are available at the download site that are not yet uploaded to the FTP site? I want to ensure I have all available themes; I was not sure if the FTP site had ALL the themes that are released daily at the website. Has anyone checked this or provide a list of themes to get me completely updated on themes?
Also, I am unable to get the 'sort by date added' feature to work on the website. This would be very handy to check periodically to see if new themes have been added. Why does this not work?
Thanks.

The downloads area will always be a little more up to date than the FTP, since we have to transfer the files over periodically. This doesnt happen everytime a user submits a theme.

When in the downloads area and viewing the list of themes, I just click the "date" text in the date column and it sorts them by date added.

Well to be honest that kinda sucks, when people pay for the ftp they expect it to have extras, when infact what this guy is saying is right, all the themes on the site ant on the ftp so whats the point, i gave up coz i couldbe bortherd to go looking around for the ones i dont have because there not put onto the ftp yet, if you can upload them to the site why cant you drop them stright into the ftp.

Also it woud be nice to have a special section for the movie themes on the ftp.
I woud love that and i think many others would to,

I understand if you dont want to bill of course, im just saying somthing extra for the ftp gold members would be a real treat. as paying for the themes on the ftp is no different than downloading them from the site for free.

That wasn't his point and isn't the case actually. When you pay you get unlimited downloads with no waiting on the site and on the ftp. The ftp DOES have things not on the site.

The reason things are on the site before the ftp is because they are uploaded TO THE SITE FIRST, so that is where they end up first, then they are moved to the ftp as soon as they can be. This is just how it works. Besides paying for access is nothing considering that hyperspin is FREE and is such an awesome product. Having the ftp access makes thing SO much easier and convenient it is worth every penny.

I agree with dpar. There is plenty of content on the ftp to make it worth the donation. :)

i put box art and stuff on the ftp that doesn't get shared here. I know espontaneo's amiga collection is on the ftp and it's not here. my updated NES wheels/boxes are on the ftp...

there's stuff on the ftp that's not on the site, but the main point is not downloading 600 themes individually with a 3 minute wait between downloads (1800 minutes = 30 minimum + download time + clicking time + install time...)

The content has less on the ftp than it does on the site.
Every thing is free on the site, so how does that make it worth a donation

I havent made a dontion myself for the content of the ftp, i made the donation to say thanks for making it hyperspin fe and making all the content free.

all im saying is it would be nice to see something extra on the ftp that is not on the site.

I would just like to know when the ftp gets updated, I don't want to guess. Unless there's a thread somewhere I haven't seen that lets you know it would be nice to know when it got updated so im not re downloading themes I already have...

I think there is a misunderstanding on what the term "donation" means. Yes, it's always nice to have a carrot for those supporting but this very site IS the carrot. Personally, I've donated several times and I'm not rich. I'm just appreciative of what everyone's done here and if the FTP has no extra compared to the site or is slow to be updated, it's not the end of the world.

The way I see it, if no one donates, there's no way BBB and company will be able to keep this site alive, and that would be a crying shame.

also, the FTP is a donation - it is not run by BBB but is run by another user who voluntarily mirrors the site and updates it himself (is my understanding)

bent98 maintains the FTP so that theres no conflicts between multiple people maintaining the files. He works a normal job like everyone else and updates the files maybe every 10 or 20 themes. The idea behind the FTP is to provide people a convenient way to be able to download a bulk of all the themes then keep up in the downloads area on new releases by using the left panel on our site to see whats new. Or you can have your files synced to the ones on the FTP so that you can just do a cursory check once in a while to update your files. Also if anything ever happens and you lose your files, leave the scene and comeback or whatever its always convenient to be able to just back over there to get all the files easily. bent98 keeps records of your account info also so that if you ever forget, lose your login information you can just contact us to get it back.
The FTP costs money which is mainly why its offered to gold members. I personally dont even use the download section on the site but maybe we can get bent98 to let the users know when he does updates to they dont have to constantly log in to find out whats new over there.
