Is it worth it? I have a 32" LCD currently in my Ultrapin that I would really like to upgrade to a 1080p, but I'm not sure if the benefits are worth it. I mostly play FP, so I was wondering if anyone else had a chance to compare. The good news is, if pull the trigger and make the switch, I'm going to offer up my current 32" LCD to the hyperpin members for $100.00 (but you have to pick it up locally, in Columbus, OH).

Damn...if I knew you were unloading your old 32" screen for 100 bucks, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on this 24" that I just bought for my minipin. I am in PA but the shipping would have probably offset the cost.

Anyhow, in regards to 720p vs 1080p, 1080p should look tighter overall. More pixels = more resolution. Will it be a noticeable difference...probably. Enough to purchase a new screen...not sure. The hardest part will be finding a 32" that has a uniform thin bezel around it. A ton of 32 inch TVs have a thicker bottom bezel but there are some (Samsung comes to mind) that have a nice thin bezel.

With the Ultrapin, is the LCD screen open frame?

Yeah...the LCD has been removed from its bezel/casing, which is what I'll have to do with this new one. I purchased a Scepter 1080p, so we'll see how it goes this weekend. If all is well, first person to call dibs on my old 32" LCD (1360 x 768) can have it for 100 bucks. There is no case for it...it's just the display. I won't be able to ship, either, so the buyer will need to pick it up. If I can't move it, I'll probably use it to build another cab...who knows.

Theres a huge difference going from 720p to 1080p, the upgrade is worthed, you can even read the little text on the instruction cards in the games.

Bill...are you near Columbus? The LCD is yours (free, of course) if you want it. It could be your gigantic backbox LCD. You would be the envy of all your neighbors ;)

Visually I guess it improves, but you'll sure need the processing power to keep the table rocking !!
