Hi I have been playing with hyperpin and future pinball and it is excellent, I spent thousands of dollars to build my own pinball cabinet with 32 inch lcd for the playfield and 26 inch lcd for the backglass, the computer is core 2 duo e8400 with 4 GB DDRII and GF9600GT video card 500 GB HDD, so all the gear is good and I have been happy up until now, I see so many great wonderful vp tables but I just can not get it to work, either the games don't work or they freeze on me, please someone tell me,or show me how to do it and get them to play.I want them to work 16.9 on my 2 monitors with backglass just like future pinball, is that possible ? I think it's a hard program to work with so far.. who has this working on their pinball cabinet ????

Well the first suspect would be your video card and its drivers. VP seems to be finicky about that.
I would say if it is only VP that is causing you problems. Go over to vpforums.org and ask there.

No problem. One thing to also try is the. "Use Hardware Rendering" (or something like that) setting in VP. For some people toggling that on and off helps with some situations.
VP seems to have a few issues with the implementation of its graphics engine.

I am still having troubles with vp9, no joy over at vpforums except read read blah blah which I did and was no better off the only game I got working is 16.9 Back to the future and that works on my normal dual view settings in my pin cab running vp and hyperpin everything else gives me an error "could not create off screen surface" there are other errors that I get also like black screens, lock ups, so please once again if you have a pin cabinet how did you get it working, what are your monitors set to, what video card are you running, please a little more help

oh and another note yes I did the vertical span settings and that did not work for me, not a single game working, there must be an easy way to get it working within hyperpin then that ? otherwise how can you have one setting for fp and another for vp in the video setup ???

What kind of memeory do you have? Is it new? Latest nvidia drivers? The freezing part has me wondering.

OK first of all....
So are you saying that it exhibits this behaviour when you are running VP by launching through HP?
Here is what I would do.
1st I would install VP8 and a regular old VP table. See if I could get that going OK.
I would get that running perfectly before going to the FS and 16:9 tables on VP9.
I would launch the tables through the VP interface and hold off on my HyperPin implementation until I got the kinks worked out without a FE.

Thanks so here is what has happened, reinstalled windows xp, and all drivers again installed vp 8 full install and pinmame again and some tables and roms got them working fine. followed the pdf instructions from the vp 9 install for nvidia and 1360 x1536 vertical span got following games working 8 ball champ, austin powers, barracora, back to the future, guns and roses, time machine all other 16.9 tables don't work including all the new ones downloaded from hyperpin forum cactus canyon, black rose, mata hari, star wars, attack from mars all others either give me errors or the playfield is huge and spans across both monitors .
not working in hyperpin this works just within vp only.

So they work in VP but not when you run them through HP?

Try running VP from the command line outside of HP, becase thats all HP does is run it from the command line for you. I dont think the tables wouldnt work just because your using HP to launch them. Two seperate things.

are you using the vertical span settings when you run hyperpin. did you change the resolution in visual pinball to match you playfield display. hyperpin doesn't support the spanning. so if you can run a fullscreen table in vp9 outside of hyperpin you should have no problem. if you leave the vp resolution the same as it was when you used the spanning but are only using a single monitor you will get the offscreen surface error.

thanks for all the help,I guess what I am saying is how can you run hyperpin and fp in one resolution and then change resolution for vp, because fp and hyperpin run in dualview and vp runs in vertical span mode, have I lost the plot here ??? I am happy running hyperpin and fp, I just wanted to play a few tables from vp 9 on my pin cab also.

Well you are running up against a current HyperPin limitation. Hyperpin doesn't support different VP configurations and especially doesn't switch graphics modes.
Now depending on how determined you are, you could theoretically make some changes to the XML database and the AutoHotKey file and make some changes to pull off what you want.
I'm hoping to do something like this for myself in the next week or two, but it will be very specific to an Ultrapin configuration. I know it can be done, but I don't know the amount of effort necessary. BBB prefers to not deal with the spanned stuff if I recall and I don't think there are any short term plans for adding that from what I have read so far.
I could be wrong.
Once I figure out the approach I am taking, I might be able to help you out with wht you are looking at doing.

Thanks again, I played around a bit more and found out that by using playfield lcd at 1360 x768 and backglass lcd at 1280 x1024 I can run more of the vp tables out of hyperpin so I am pretty happy now thank you for everyones help regards this issue,I would like to see a few more of my favourites be converted like Medievil madness and cirquis voltair but for now I am very amused.
