I am having trouble re-mapping the controls in my IPAC. I'm using Hyperspin which I love. My cab control panel consists of 1 x 8-way Joystick, 1 x Player 1, 1 x Player 2 Button and 6 action buttons.
The specific problem is with Insert coins. I don't know if it's a conflict with the controls part of Hyperspin or something else. Can I set MAME so all games by default run FREEPLAY without the need to insert coins like the dipswitches on the xxx in 1 boards? If so how? If I can't how do I configure the IPAC so another button acts as a coin insert. I do not have room and do not want seperate buttons for coin insertion.

Cheers, Mike

you can use a hotscript in autohotkey to use a key combination to send the coin button.

for example 1 player start & 1st action button or something similar.

what are you going to use as escape too? you can do a similar thing there too.

No need for AHK for this....

By default the IPAC's have a SHIFT function. You would want to configure a button as shift. In this case it is best to assign your player 1 start button as the shift function. Then you will want to configure the shifted button P1-SW1 with the 5 key and P2-SW2 with the 6 key.

To enter a coin you would hold down player 1 start and hit player 1 button 1 and for player 2 hold player 1 start and hit player 2 button 1.

For ESC, by default, Player 1 Start + Player 2 Start. However, I HIGHLY suggest changing this configuration if you play many 2 player simultaneous games. I can't tell you how many games we have accidentally exited out of because player 1 and player 2 died at the same time and had to re-start.
