I'm starting my cabinet project I just wanted some feedback to see what you guys think. The system will have a PC and a xbox 360. As you can see its in pretty bad shape right now but I picked up the cabinet for $80 and it was actually working when I got it but I ripped everything out.

For the controls im going to use 2 mad catz xbox 360 STF4 arcade controls. Im going to have to customize them a bit to make them fit in the control panel but it shouldnt be to hard

I got a 24' gateway 1900x1200 monitor from tiger direct for $250

For the guns I cant decide if I should go with the topgun 2, RF topgun, or the wiimote. I would get the topguns but I cant find them in North America.

I'm also going to have a trackball but I havent looked for that yet.

The one thing I havent figured out yet is how im going to switch from PC to 360. Im thinking of using a KVM so that I can switch the controls, video, and sound with one push of a button. Im not sure if the KVM can switch a usb controller. I think their only made for a mouse and keyboard.

for speakers you're going to have to get a receiver that can auto-switch or can do 2 channels simultaneously.

Hook up the PC to channel A and the 360 to channel B - but you'll have 2 sets of speakers in it. If it has auto-switching then you only need 1 set.

I own the 25" monitor you linked. I ended up getting to for 175 after rebate. I am going to use it as the playfield for my mini pin project.

It is an OK monitor. The vertical viewing angle is kind of crappy. So when I have it rotated for pinball, you don't get a good view if you are sitting left of the cab.

It's not a bad monitor, but not the greatest. I would stick with a 1080 monitor if you are using a xbox360.

Don't forget a spinner! Alot of games feel really authentic using a spinner. Tempest for example. I even use my spinner to spin the games list in hyperspin. A spinner is a must for any cabinet IMHO.

Best of Luck!

Spinner for sure! Tempest is soo much fun to play with a real spinner....Missile Command deserves a trackball too (just my opinion)

There are serveral web sites that specialize in arcade controls. The more popular sites are:

http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/

http://www.ultimarc.com/

There are alot of games that are intended to be controlled with a device such as a spinner. If a game has mouse support in mame you can control it with a trackball or a spinner. I use my spinner to control alot of my driving games also like, Pole Position and Turbo.

Games that are ideal for a spinner include: Tempest, Puzz Loop, All the Breakout type games.

Games that are ideal for a trackball include: Missle Command, Centipede, Crystal Castles.

There are lots more. It's all about your personal preference.

Good Luck!
