A quick question about the U360: How do i get hyperspin to download certain maps for certain games? I searched the forum but all i could understand was that somehow i'm supposed to use LEDBlinky to map the joysticks. Maybe someone could explain this one for me, 'cause i don't get it. Thanks.

I have U360's as well, but I havent installed them yet as I was planning on building a new cp. So I guess I would be curious about this as well for future reference in my case
Ok guys... I'm working on getting my U360's setup and running. I have everything hooked up now, but I can't seem to get them to map automatically. I have LedBlinky installed, but I can't seem to find an updated controls.ini.
Anyone have any tips/tricks to getting mapping working?

I'm just as puzzled as you are on this... I really don't mind playing analog all the time, but since one of the features of the U360 is automatic mapping it's kind of a letdown not being able to use it.

I successfully configured my U360 test panel about 6 months ago so it isn't that fresh in my mind.
i used the previous version of ledblinky and recently updated to the new version. still maps correctly.
i remember it was tricky but rewarding when it finally worked. i'll upload all my settings tonight to see if that helps you.
first thing i had to do was run the ledblinky mapping utility so ledblinky knew what each button was.

Is this only an issue for mapping the buttons that the joy supports? Or also an issue with the joystick itself?
@wakeet Can you RE-post those files? The mediafire links are down.

sorry about that...missed the request.
there are two files that ledblinky uses to apply the maps. the first is the LedBlinkyControls.xml. The second is the controls.ini file.
Ledblinky first scans the LedBlinkyControls.xml to determine if there is a rom setup here. New games can be added using the LedblinkyControlsEditor.exe. if there are no roms here, it will then scan the controls.ini file to see if there is a map.
once it determines the map it will apply it when the rom is loaded. the maps are stored in the jdr folder of the ledblinky directory. i.e. the 8 way joystick map is called Joy8Way.um. these maps must be present and named correctly to load. if they are not being loaded, enable verbose logging for ledblinky and check the debug log for error messages regarding missing map files. it will look like this:
"Missing JDR file [C:\HyperSpin\Leds\LEDBlinky\LEDBlinky\jdr\ultrasti k\Joy8Way.um]. Joystick Digital Restriction for the UltraStik (U360) has been disabled."
Attached are pictures of my settings from the GUI as well as the Settings.ini for my ledblinky. make sure your controls.ini directory is setup correctly and that you are enabling JDR mode for the u360.
Attached is my LEDBlinkyControls.xml. it is currently a .txt file. change the extension to .zip and extract the xml file.
The controls.ini file can be found here. the current version is 0.111.5. Download the .ini file, not .xml.

The Colors.ini file can be found here. This doesn't do anything for mapping, but it will light your buttons if you use RGB leds and ledblinky.

There is one last thing to remember...this i just learned
from mame version 1.17 on there is a joystick_map setting in the mame.ini. mame also has the ability to map a digital restriction to an analog joystick. although, the consensus seems to be to use the u360 mapping instead of the mame mapping.
if joystick_map is set to "auto" (no quotes) it will apply the mame map. if your u360 is also mapping the two maps are overlapped. not a good situation. what i want to do is see if i can setup my mame defualt map to the analog map so that it is not limiting any u360 mapping regardless of the game. but i can't do this because my u360 just stopped working!
side note...u_rebelscum suggests setting you map to the generic 8 way mame map "7778." (without quotes).
you can find the discussion here.
