what is the best way to convert a full no-intro rom set to match the corresponding wheel/box art sets that are on the FTP, as well as the official database xml files.
Thanks

HS actually uses the No-Intro naming format, however, some of the console themes that were put out there were not in this format (they were made a while back, before no-intro was decided on I think), so it's best to just rename them to match.

I would just download the latest no-intro .dat file for whatever system your using, then use clrmamepro to rename the sets to the correct format.

the no-intro dat will have duplicate games in it though like Japan and USA of the same game. Where can I get that dat to match all these wheel packs ect that people are making. In other words what are they using to create there sets, what are they basing it off of
Thanks!

when it has seemingly duplicate games i.e.
Altered Beast (Japan)
Altered Beast (Usa)
Altered Beast (Europe)
They are NOT the same game they have different headers - which is why no-into named them differently. When they ARE the same game it will look like this:
Super Mario Bros. (World)
Excite Bike (Japan, US)
Elevator Action (US, Europe)
Noting that it's the same game in different regions.
The system for naming here Is to take ALL US games and use those, then name all games from EU that were not released in the US. Japan games are not included in databases with 2 exceptions (possibly 3).
1) MAME
2) Japanese System (PC Engine - Famicom Disc System...)
3) The Game was all English
The Databases from HyperList and the box/wheel art is the "cleaned" version of a no-intro dat (with the rules I just specified above) so all you should have to do is just download the wheel/boxes into their respective locations and download the full database from HyperList - then the duplicate games / Japan games will not be listed. (though they will still be in your roms folder if you have a full set and don't delete them).

Thanks SophT, makes sense. The only list on Hyperion that I see doesnt follow your logic above is the nes set. On hyperion I see the following:
Addams Family, The - Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (Europe)
Addams Family, The - Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (USA)
Addams Family, The - Uncle Fester's Quest (Europe)
Addams Family, The - Uncle Fester's Quest (USA)
Addams Family, The (Europe) (En,Fr,De)
Addams Family, The (USA)
...ect

Looks like a dat was ran against the NES set and confirmed the addition of these games (thus making the system not 100% pure).
What can be done for now, is you can generate a genre list and check all genre boxes outside of "include missing genres", then when your list is created, you can download a custom made dat file for it.
This will "force" a clean list, as the stuff I've added to it should all have genre's setup.
There are quite a few.... inconsistencies in the current database sets on hyperion, but these are still up in the air for being done (work has consumed practically all spare time, or else it would have been done by now)
[EDIT]
Corrected typo. I meant "work", not "time". It would be neat to see time consuming all spare time :D
