View Full Version : Suggestion for Theme Designs

Just my two cents, but I've noticed that several themes are obscuring the game selection wheel. While it's okay to slightly obscure the edges or a few of the titles, covering the majority of the wheel should be avoided. If most of the wheel is covered the player has to move to another selection to see what the wheel contains and it means that there is a lot of juggling of the selections. It's fine to have large graphics such as the title or characters "fly" in over the wheel, but they should move / scale in such a way to allow the player to see most of the wheel once they stop moving.

that's an interesting point, one I actually haven't made up my mind. In one way, I'm thinking that's correct, I want a reference to the next game up on the list, but I'm also thinking there's a lot of real estate that gets wasted and since the games are listed alphabetically, I should be able to surmise the next game on the list. Interesting to hear the various thoughts on this issue.

Actually the next release is going to take it a step further and hide the wheel after a couple seconds of inactivity. I personally haven't had any issues with the current way of doing things, and like loafer was talking about, you have to weigh the difference between theme real estate and knowing what nearby games are, so it comes down to a matter of personal taste. Thanks for your feedback, i like to hear everyones suggestions about the FE.

Billy, the new feature to hide the wheel, will that be a user option or it's hard coded and we have no choice. For some reason, I like to see little bits of the wheel popping through the various themes, for a lack of better words, it seems more "fun" that way. I like using when the theme creators use the real estate but I don't think I would want it to turn into a full screen theme as this suggests (though I can see many/most may prefer this, I'm just a fan of "let the user decide for himself").

Actually I like seeing the wheel to and some people dont, another thing thats a matter of taste, but by default it will show. You can adjust it also, it will have a setting to where you can adjust the alpha to what the wheel will fade to. Default will be 1, but I might put mine to .5 which will be 50 percent alpha or I might go less, that way you can kinda see the wheel and know its there but it doesnt mix with the themes to much.

Thumbs up on that solution.

bill, any chance we can get the wheel to "pulse or heartbeat" the current game for a few seconds than go away?

I would definitely stay with the current layout if there is an option for the wheel to disappear. Themes would start to look heavy on the left side if we take the wheel into account when designing them.
