One word... SmartStrip , might be 2 words though.

so this will eliminate any need to modify the pc on/off switch and still provide power to the monitor and other equipment?

If you just want to power the pc on when the powerstrip is turned on there is a BIOS setting to do this.

You can ignore this if you have a smartstrip (http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Strip-SCG3-Autoswitching-Technology/dp/B000P1QJXQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1253186950&sr=8-2). It will do it for you.

I would also recommend the smartstrip, will do exactly what you want

I also have a Smartstrip, when the PC is turned on, it turns on eveything else (monitor, speakers, marquee, coin door, usb hub...etc) Are you talking about extending the PC on/off switch to the cabinet? I just cut the wires and extended em to my cabinet on/off switch.

That's a pretty neat device I'll have to order one of those. But if you want anything other then your computer to be the main electronic controlling the rest of the cabinet then you will still have to change the BIOS setting to eliminate the soft power switch. For instance if you have a TV for a monitor and would like to use the remote to power on the cab. Thanks for giving me yet another gadget I need to purchase now. :)

Can't seem to find any of those smart strips in the Uk...which is the exact Bios setting i would use as an alternative?
Cheers.

It depends on the board. On some gigabyte boards you need to turn off "power management" in the BIOS on some others(HP I think) there is an "enable fast reboot" feature. In others it has an "after power failure" option in the boot menu. What board is it and what bios is it running?

I'll be using an Asus A7VBx-x so i'll have a look in the manual for something similar. Cheers for the info. :)
