I thought I'd share my progress on a new cabinet. It's based on "Oscar's" plans...and I've modified it to fit my needs.
I wanted a cabinet that looked like it might have come from either Captain Nemo's sub, or Frankenstein's lab....
So I built "Dr. Victor Frankenstein's MONSTER ARCADE"
I'm still working on the marquee, which should be done tonight or tomorrow, then I'll post more pictures of the completed cabinet....running Hyperspin, of course.

Nice, I like how you made the cab look rusty..

I really really like that cab! The only thing I dont like is the premade xarcade stick. Please tell me you are going to eventually put in a proper panel. It's obvious you have skills, a control panel is probably one of the easiest parts to a cab.
Fantastic finish...very cool!

This looks awesome...I have to agree with Billpa the Xarcade sick kinda detracts from the unit.

Nice, and creative, I like!
That is so cool. Great work!
(Make your new control panel look like the Xarcade, except add a faded background monster(wolfman maybe)).

Thanks everyone! I agree about the controller....I need to develop some electronics/wiring skills and whip up something for that. In the meantime, I put up more photos showing the completed marquee...it's a carved sign lit with LED strip.
That is a very cool design!
I think your arcade controls are fine, because you painted them. If you decide to change it, there is really not much to learn about electronics/wiring to make your own. It is very simple.
I can't believe the talent of some people. I could have never even dreamed up this cabinet, let alone build it.
...er no! not wolfman,
Creature from the Black Lagoon would go better. ;)

I love the creature from the black lagoon....I'll have to do something with that. I thought about making alternate lithopanes for it...

Thats amazing. Its really up there with the creme de le creme (Knievel etc). Gotta get rid of that x-arcade though!

I noticed a distinct lack of knife switches. Other than that, awesome.

I really wanted to do a knife switch and still may add one that's fake. I didn't want to do a real one because I have lots of small children around....BZZZZZT!!!!

You could rig a real knife switch to a microswitch to power the machine on. Maybe have one of them cool Plasma balls or something similar startup. :) I just got that imagery in mind after looking at your machine again.

I like it with the X-Arcade. All your missing is a Jacob's Ladder http://www.steltercreativewoodworks.com/STELTER1/Frankenstein_x.html. Although you would need to enclose it in glass to make sure no one gets hurt.

Wow.. Perfect. That's more what I was aiming at (I didn't know that's what they were called).

Wow, fantastic work!
Though I must admit, when I first saw it all I could think about was the game, Bioshock.
