Hiya,

Most will tell you to that their using Adobe Illustrator to go over old work. Illustrator is a vector based program, while something like Photoshop is a raster based. To keep it short, a vector image can be sized to any portion you want without loss of fidelity, while raster cannot be. If you do not have or cannot get a hold of Illustrator, I might suggest Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/).

I'd also suggest watching this great videos (http://vimeo.com/1304735) from billpa too! They cover the basics of HS art creation.

oh, and have fun!

er...those are my video tutorials. :D

I agree with MB though. You want to use Illustrator or InkScape or Corel Draw. Vector images can be scaled infinitely.

Those tutorial links are more for Photoshop. You can use Photoshop for cab art but you need to make sure you are working in 300 dpi resolution and if you are using bitmapped images, you need to make sure they are large enough. Never scale up a bitmapped image...it will look like crap.

If you have any specific questions about creating artwork, drop me a PM.

Well ... to say that Photoshop is exclusively Raster would be incorrect. The newer versions of Photoshop (like CS3, or CS4) have a nice blend of the two I think. Illustrator would be used to create vector lines for a template, perhaps drawings (illustrations) etc... but typically not so good at working with "images".

Personally I use Photoshop, it's a perfect blend of the two in my opinion. They have plenty of vector tools to create shapes, lines, etc... and then I can also work with my images as well. Of course it really depends on what you are doing, both require a pretty heavy learning curve. But unless all your artwork will be illustrations, solid lines & colors, etc... I might try Photoshop first.
