Can anyone confirm that Hyperspin is bug free across these 3 operating systems?

What updates should I be sure to install (e.g. .NET Framework, etc.)

I've ran on XP and Windows 7 with no problems.

No issues experienced previously with Vista 32 or 64 for me outside of the cross-platform issues (black screen and the like).

I think it could be a good choice for quick boot.. isn't it?

hyperspin doesn't have any problems cross platform.

HyperList requires the .net framework.

some emulators don't work as well on vista/7 (freeDO) b/c there's no ASPI layer native like XP.

I am about to build new pc to run hyperspin and many emulators.

Am i best to get windows 7 or stick to xp? (i have licences for both)

I am also told im best to go 64bit to get the extra speed in mame, but will the other emulators like this?

My problem is that xpadder doesn't work with Windows 7 - only xp. Once the new version of Hyperspin comes out that properly supports joysticks then I should be able to upgrade my OS. Until then however I'm stuck with XP - not because hyperspin doesn't work with Windows 7... but because xpadder doesn't. :(

I've been running xpadder on windows 7 since beta... are you sure you have a recent version?

I will be using using a Core 2 Quad or i5 processor inside my new cabinet ehich I would like to run most emulators.

These are both 64bit CPUs (right?) so, should I use Vista 64bit or Windows 7 64bit (and which edition: Home/Pro/Ultimate)?

Any knowns incompatible emulators issues running games under 64bit OS?
Read that FreeDo is not working in 64bit.. any other ones?

FreeDo isn't a 64bit issue, it's a kernel 6 issue because MS dropped the native ASPI layer, which the emulator requires. you can download a 3rd party ASPI emulator like frogaspi - but it's not guaranteed to work.

7 and vista are the same kernel - so the backends are going to be virtually identical in terms of the MS APIs and things like that. 7 is said to run faster than vista though.

I upgraded my vista 32 home to 7 32 home and I can't really tell a difference between them except looks and a few new minor features. That and less nags.

you know xpadder 5.3 does work in windows 7. You just have to find the modified version of it. I had the same problem trying to get compatibility mode to work in win7 for xpadder and was a pain finally found a verison that someone modifed that removed the OS check on it so it just runs.

I can't remember the link but i will look for it and post it if you want.

on my laptop for testing with a 360 wired pad I have win7 x64 and run:

mame - no probs

fusion - no probs and exits almost immediately back

znes - no probs other than having to set it to my latops native res otherwise after exiting a game hs would be windowed

pj64 1.7 - no probs but had to use the rice graphics plugin as using the default meant that at startup the menu bar would continually blink between invisibile and visible.

nestopia - no probs

model2 - had to set it to native res of my latop, but then no issues.

Thats all i run, some of the issues might not directly be related to x64 bit

Running demul on win 7 64 bit fine, nullDC 1.0.6 as well, makaron okay, but it's my problem with config that took so long to figure it out.

Haven't tried much else but mame lately though I think I remember running ps2ex okay as well.

i have windows 7 64 and xp 32 duel boot and i'd say windows 7 is better for me as xp gives me slowdown on startup in hyperspin,
i have loads of emulators and all work great on win7,
for me m.a.m.e is pretty much the same using the x32 version or the x64 version.
