View Full Version : How many people using this FE actually have a cab?

I was wondering how many people using this HyperSpin actually have it running on a cab.

I don't really have a point to this thread but I just checked my theme statistics and and noticed that there's not that many people actually downloading them.. or any of the most different main/systems themes for that matter.

Looking at the download figures I guess most people run MAME, and a lot of them run MAME only or with 1-4 other systems. Or am I completely grabbing this out of thin air?

I'd love some statistics! (And I'm not even an American sports fan)
Maybe add something like this to your personal HS account........... BBB:itsme:
Cab owner
Cab builder
Arcade enthusiast
Console enthusiast
Atari enthusiast
etc.
I get it if people would be reluctant sharing what systems they emulate

Well, I am not planning a cab, more of an console plugged into my TV. And my goal is to have all consoles that are possible :)

Hehe, I know what you mean. I have a cab planned but there's always a pc hooked to a tv in most places I regularly visit. So I just hook my external drive & controllers to that.

I have the Ultimate Arcade II with a 4 player control panel and 27" Wei-Ya Arcade Monitor. One of these days I'll post some pics in the cabinet section.

Pics would be nice. My cab only roughly exist in solidworks atm. I've got a rounded classic cab and a naomi (modern or so) style cab in the making.

I do have a problem exactly recreating all parts (controls, joystick undersides, monitor & speakers are a particular problem are keeping me down atm)

I like to be exact.....

I run everything on my 58" plasma. So far I have emulated:

intellivision
colecovision
atari lynx
atari 2600
atari 5200
atari 7800
panasonic 3DO
NES
SNES
N64
gameboy advance
playstation
sega genesis
sega 32x
sega cd
sega master system
sega dreamcast
sega gamegear
sega model 2
sega saturn
sega naomi
neo geo pocket color
turbografx 16
zinc
daphne
future pinball

And I am running Pc Games as well (mainly SF4, HOD series)

I love playing light gun games on my plasma it is a lot of fun.

Now I also helped my brother build a HS cab too, which is awesome as well. I may build a cab in the future, bt for now I am happy with what I have.

CRAP! I know u have that plasma with either: controllers/xarcade/custom cp/haha.... keyboard, but at least a mouse with that last one to play it well (or xb30 controller(s) but that wouldn't work against other players with a pc set-up I guess)

Still I'm impressed :D (ow crap, I have a keyboard attached to it.... and use it:banghead:)

Nah I use 360 controller (SF4) and lightgun (House of the Dead series), I have an ems top gun 2 which works great.

I'm running it on a cab. It's a pretty simple, scratch built cab with a 2 player CP. It has two USB ports under the sides of the CP for Xbox 360 controllers for console games or four player. It only has a 21" monitor so 4 player is not ideal. I wouldn't Use anything but HS on it. Your stats are probably only from the download section right? There's probably a lot of FTP downloads too.
Here's a photo of my cab. The theme/artwork came from one of my son's books called Chameleons are Cool.

I am running it on a cabinet....to be honest I haven't totally finished the cabinet yet because it is taking me forever to figure out what emulators I can and cannot run on my old pc. For now I'm planning on MAME, Model 2, Genesis, NES, SNES, N64.....Also I'll probably get some PSX (mainly for tekken games), Zinc (never have been able to set it up right, but going to invest some time in it), 3DO and naomi (but not looking promising so I may just decide to call it quits because I'm getting frustrated because my system/video card don't seem to be up to snuff for the emulators)...

If I can't get the naomi emulators to work I'm looking into buying house of the dead 2 and 3 for pc.....love those light gun games!

But yes I am running HyperSpin on my cab. I was using Mala but saw how "pretty" HyperSpin was and decided to make the swap. Mala worked fine, but I like how HyperSpin gives a very polished and professional look (I want the home arcade experience to feel as realistic as possible because I think it takes away from the "wow" factor if you see an interface that makes it look like a list of games with a few pictures next to it. Very happy I made the switch and can't wait until I finally finish the cabinet and place the computer "inside" so it can no longer be seen.

I have both (PC to TV, and a cab).

My cab is complete except for the control panel. It's being built now, and I expect it to be fully operational and configured by early November.

I have a Naomi stand up cab all orignal parts. I have most of the consoles emu's running and most of the arcade emu running on it.
It's the best move I have ever made buying the cab, it's just more like being a kid again at southend playing in the arcades :)
oh and everyone who comes to my place has to play it as soon as they see it.
I was looking at hyperpin but I think she would kill me if I went there hehe.

Hey this would be a good question for a poll here @ hyperspin. Personally, I am working on finishing a 4 player cp. At first I was going to build a whole arcade but then I wouldn't get to use my big screen. The best monitor I have is a 17" screen and I really can't afford a nice, new, large screen that I want for my setup.

I built my first cab about 4 years ago, and it was used for more than 2 years before it had to be dismantled for decorating reasons.
It was running MameWah, which was fine at the time.

I've been setting up HyperSpin on my main PC for the last couple of months, while I planned the new Cab, and this weekend I virtually finished the new Cab (just a few more licks of paint and varnish to go) and finally got to run HyperSpin on it.
I've had a couple of lockups in HS, but that may be down to other things so I'm going to wait and see how stable it is in my Cab.

It certainly looks great when it's running in the Cab. :) :) :)

I've been working on a cab for the last year and a half when I have time. It's been operational for quite some time running Hyperspin. At this point I've been working on just getting MAME configured and working perfectly. I plan to move on to Zinc, NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari, etc.

I have a beefy PC with XBMC and Hyperspin, connected to a beamer in my living room.

Now I'm in the process of having every possible input device connected to it, PS2 Buzzers, Retro Pad per console (with USB adapters), wheel... just miss the lightgun ;)

which is why I have a wall mounted projector that shoots onto the other wall ;)

Just transferring my system from a self built cab to a touch screen cab, thinking I might invest in an x-arcade tankstick tho as my current dual x-arcade just doesn't give enough room when playing 2 player fighters and your being being very animated lol

I might add sega model 2 and daphne when support is added for multiple emulators in a single wheel

i actually have 5 cabs in my basement.

- restored galaga with 39-in-1 jamma and 25 inch monitor
- restored ms pac with a multi pac jamma board
- original dedicated Mr. Do (8/10)
- original dedicated Rally X (6/10)
- orginal dedicated space harrier (7/10)
- empty defender cab which I'll be dropping hyperspin into.

i only plan (right now) on doing horizontal games with the multiwilliams control panel setup.

(really, I just want to play robotron and crazy climber.)

wait, that's 6.

- oh.. i have an original dedicated scramble cabinet in the garage with a mr do in it(8/10)
I might drop a 39 in 1 in that too and set it to scramble only. :)

make that 7.

plus a 13 foot skeeball.

i think i just realized I have too much stuff in my basement.

I took the easy way out and got the bare bones X-arcade. but I have made a few mods to it. The girlfreind says "Hell to the No" while head-swivelin when I say I want to bring it "inside" the house.
Ive got a crappy picture on my profile page (Isnt showing Hyperspin on it) and Hyperspin was the reason I bought it.

No cab here. I am using a 50" Panasonic plasma with a corei7 media pc. Hyperspin runs at 1920X1080 just fine. I am using a Madcatz TE controller via USB so I can still us the nice Sanwa controls. I also have an XBox wireless controller dongle so I can hook the normal wireless XBox controllers up if I need second or third players.

So, for me, no need for a cab.

Just finished my cab. Been working on it for a couple of years between moves and deployments...

Finally finished it a few weeks ago. Still getting HS set up the way I want with the systems I want. My building skill are unfortunately much better than my programming skills...

HS is the only FE in my opinion. It makes the entire thing look fantastic and professional. Friends are always amazed when they come over and ask me where I bought it :)

I'll post some more detailed pics, but here are a few:

I have HS on a 2 player cab that I build around 10 years ago. It sits in my home Pub/Bar next to a classic Pachinko machine. I just got the cab back together again after getting everything running in HS. It's has most all of the systems on it that are in HS except for the hand-held stuff. I've been collecting themes and hope to have them for all the games that I have. I recently made my first theme to try and contribute something back to HS. Guess I'd have to say I'm an arcade, console, pc game and Beer enthusiast. :beerglass:

I just have to mention this here. I was in truck stop cafe and shop and found an interesting arcade cab. I should have taken a picture. Anyway, this cab was running something that looked identical to this interface. It only had a small selection of old arcade games. It said nothing about hyperspin, but sure could have been. Its great to know I have that in my own home, available to me anytime I want.

Here's my baby (old pic running maximus arcade... which I abandoned). I'm now adapting my themes in HS, to match my cab layout. Not a lot of free time to do this so it's going pretty slow. I'll share my theme as soon as I get it done and working. The Monster Bash is my other baby. I wish I had more space to add more babies to the collection but I'm not sure my GF would be very happy with that ;-)

The artwork is based on my original 3D illustration done back in 2004: http://www.antropus.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=26&pos=0
