Hello to you all (sorry for my bad english).

First I want to say thank you to the hyperpin-team for this great front end.

I want to build a mini-pinball, like the Bally Monte Carlo from 1973 only a little bit smaller.

I'm "bigraceusa" - yes I has the ProPinball game years ago - from futurepinball-Forum.
Post here some pics of my work - today I work on the backglas case.

I want to use a 24" Dell G2410 LED LCD-Display - 20W max. energy consumption.
And a 18,5" BenQ LED LCD-Display 17W max. for the backglas.

The first thread I wrote here: http://www.futurepinball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=4640

I build me a "paper pinball" first, to have a model.

Find some ideas for this minipin here in the forum, thanks to all.

Have Windows 7 here installed as RC, but retail in a box on my desk (must find time)
Here now the pics in the history of the build:

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8931/imgp0723.th.jpg (http://img98.imageshack.us/i/imgp0723.jpg/)

Last night I bring the leds to light on and place the buttons.
After the build of the backglas I must wait for christmas gratification to buy me the 24" LCD again (have one as work display) and the 18,5" BenQ LED LCD.
Then I must paint it... hope you have some fun so far.

Thanks to all users I read about that problem, I find a way to make it easy, picture say more as words.
When I made the plunger back, the cable have contact the switch is on, the plunger in pinball goes back, let the plunger back, the cable have disabled and the ball shut out.
http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2852/imgp0736z.th.jpg (http://img269.imageshack.us/i/imgp0736z.jpg/)

It is easy to install, cheap and it works wonderfull. I search for made it better... for a human, nothing is good enough. :)

Electric trains made the same - on a other way.

Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a name for your cab?

The plunger setup "appears" unreliable, in that maybe the wire would get caught up where it goes from no insulation to where there is insulation. Mabye a small ring like a tiny metal washer would help that. Like connect the black wire to the bottom of the washer and the ring would slide freely on the orange wire.

Big thanks for your answer, I will try it out.

Name - no :(
Search for a name from the start to build it. But find nothing.

The monte carlo 1973 from bally is one real pinball how I find the case nice - try to give him this name, the colours is the same problem.
It must be easy and nice - paint not with a printer (or copy shop) paint with real wood colour myself.

I search hours the internet for some ideas too. Many of you have fantastic paints on it... the most of them are "big prints". Only one colour "black or red" is nice for my wife, but not for me.

I take a small ring connect it to the black cable and play.
Thank you very very much.

I have play, the plunger in Future Pinball shut the bull up after 1 second.
That's ok, I can move the plunger to max. let him go, the ball goes up.

Have connect the other buttons again, I have so much fun to play with it.
Connect only today:
Insert Coint, Start Game, left and right button.

As long as it works for you. Neat idea with the exposed wire. Alot of fun once you have the buttons setup and can start playing hey? :) Check out Wonderpuddles homemade plunger with a washer and leaf switch...

Yes I can play a little bit - have connect the cables only "soft" not with cable shoes (today, wait for the 2 displays).

I has a leav switch here - that's my first idea. I has it from your link too.
But now I find my idea is a little bit better.

With a leav switch I has this:
Connect/switch at the begin or
Connect/switch at the end of the way you can pull out the plunger

My idea works more realistic (I think for me).:)
Connect/Switch from begin to the end without any interruption.
Let the plunger go, the ball shut out with only 1 second delay.

I have test it out today and this was the most realistic that I find.
Test many options... to come on this idea I try out many ideas - that takes one day.

To make it better as I have it:
install a metal bar connect one cable on it, make some thin isolation for it,
connect a metal ring with a other cable. That must life much of time before it destroyed him self.
I will see how much time I can use it of course.
But a cable cost some cents, for this cents I can build my complete switch. The metal ring survive the complete pinball I think.

The case is finish, only to do some detail.
Today only pictures (must go to bed, nightwork)

Nothing is connected, for all how must buy some speakers, don't make the mistake and buy little usb-speakers.
To connect the amplifier it is'nt easy... because there 3 cable from pc-audio out to the amplifier ( + and - and ? ) I don't know make a passthrough from my pc-speakers.
The speakers and amplifier I have from here: http://www.arcadeshop.de/index.php?cPath=82_92&language=en

Now wait some days for fresh money to buy the 2 displays, colour and tools for painting it.

Thank you!
The rest of the colours I will make some stencil too. This cost much of time.

Thats a virtual pinball of that what I want to paint:
http://fprelease.free.fr/tables/47-monte_carlo

Without the coindoor. But with the same colours.

That could be the name for the pinball too "Monte Carlo" - it's not from me, but one thing I don't must think about. ;)

Have stopped here, the displays are only installed for this test.
Now must paint the other colours and buy my furniture for the pinball, the radio and the lamp in the left side of my bed.

Thanks for help, looking and answer to you all.

Some new pics

I have build a little box for the speakers.
Test it before I make it, the sound is better, take some trash-wood for it.
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5391/imgp0807.th.jpg (http://img233.imageshack.us/i/imgp0807.jpg/)
http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/9089/imgp0808x.th.jpg (http://img263.imageshack.us/i/imgp0808x.jpg/)

Here are they final. Test it too, when I move them to the playfield the sound is lighter, on the other side (see it on the picture) the bass it darker and better.
It's only a litte place for air between the pinball case and the speaker.
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/8634/imgp0809.th.jpg (http://img94.imageshack.us/i/imgp0809.jpg/)

Have you ever paint with a screw driver? No? Test it out, I have test it many. But I can't paint so detailed. I have test the little screw driver, what I have paint with it see you on the picture. 2 colours... black first, then red. Every colour paint I need 2 hours or more. But I wood say "for me" it look ok.
Here pictures of the left side of the backglas
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9472/imgp0814.th.jpg (http://img121.imageshack.us/i/imgp0814.jpg/)
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5386/imgp0817.th.jpg (http://img137.imageshack.us/i/imgp0817.jpg/)
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/6788/imgp0818d.th.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/i/imgp0818d.jpg/)

The picture have I export from FuturePinball (Bally Monte Carlo 1972 or 1973) edit it with GIMP, print it out with a posterprint programm for normal printers.
The sides from the pinball comes later, because I have to wait for a new printer come to me in some days.

Thanks here go to the user jc144
Because without him, it was never be so easy.

Some words to the software: I will only use FuturePinball, because I want to buy me a ATI-Card later 2010 for the pinball (without Nvidia VisualPinball runs nothing in my pc) and play with a self build cab is easier as in Visual-Pinball.
...I don't want any trouble with both software simulator - It's what I think and test out only for "me".

Today I make some pictures, here you can see my small room.
I can't go more to the left side to make a picture of the complete case

I have rebuild the displays out of the pinball, because it takes 6 months again to complete the pc with new graficcard.
For make the time a little bit shorter or have a eyecandy in my room I print out the playfield and backglas - how it would look with the displays in it.
This pictures with flash on:

looking good! great example of a small pin!
Thank you very much.

I only see great tables in the forum, they are :adore: very realistic and very nice.

In finish I would to have a to do list for all user without much of money, place for real cab design. But with the wish to build a little pinball cab.

-I don't need a second PC
-I have buy a real pinball plunger - it work with cable switch very good and cheap - the pc-product I see here in the forum costs here the same like my 18,5" BenQ-LED-Display (backglas).
-dont have to pay for printing the cab - paint with colours myself

When it is finish one day (have run here a countdown-timer 187 days to go) I will use the digicam from my wife (I use a DSLR) and then I can make some videos with hyperpin and futurepinball for YouTube.:D

Very big thanks for all the good words - it make the work with more happiness.

Have my printer become today - make network for the printer, than my wife can print when I was at work.
To install the printer in this network was horrible.
I don't see so bad manual before. But now it works.

Has no time today. But work on the front and backglas ride side.
Next was the sideart - now with the printer it is easier.

I think it is finish in the middle or end of next week.

Install my Geforce 8500GT again to test out visual-pinball again. Don't know how about cabs, but it's a test.

A "to do list":
Without Christopher Leathley the FuturePinball creator I can not play, not build a so nice cab, let my dream come to be true (play pinball 1 times on a real mashine as a child, play much of pinballs on pc, but dream of that what Christopher Leathley make possible)

Without the user jc144 creator of montecarlo the futurepinball cab, I can't make this so nice.

And of course ;) (in the future) without the Hyperpin creators I would not have a so great thing of frontend.

-have export all the sideart from this pinball cab from FuturePinball to a BMP-picture.
-import it with GIMP
-cut every side out
-measure out my cab
-make a new pic with max. lengh of the side with real scale
-stretch all pics/sides for this measure (some lengh bigger, some smaler)
-copy it to the new pic
-save

-now THE PIC have the measure of the real cab.

-open a poster printer program (find it as freeware in a download website)
-print it out (with a normal printer) with the measure/scale of the real cab.
-glue it all to one big paper
-cut all colour out
-lay the paper on the cab
-take a ballpoint pen and paint it on the cab
-take a very small screwdriver, make a litte bit polish on the screwdriver and paint with it (yes it wood be nice, you can work every little detail with it).
-that's it

I make the black and red colour on the cab with this what I wrote here.

Front I would try to make it little bit better, paint again thin finish varnish on it, today it looks okay, but can be better.
All is hand-painting without any machine...

Thanks to you all, patience - yes.
That's my problem too... But now it looks better and better, after so much of work with only build and waiting that the glue is dry. I become a eyecandy.

Printing out in a firm is not a option for me (too much of money) - paint it by myself is a much of work, but it is not so expensive.
The other is - I have search the pinball database and find only two designs what I would buy with a real pinball too, both are from Bally. Ask my wife, she take the "Monte Carlo".

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/3276/imgp0852p.th.jpg (http://img682.imageshack.us/i/imgp0852p.jpg/)
It's not glue with the backbox. I need a little bit power to become it on this place.

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/6200/imgp0853.th.jpg (http://img682.imageshack.us/i/imgp0853.jpg/)
The backbox stand only on the playfield (it's heavy enough today (only the wood), haven't make any scews made yet (comes later, then it's easy the playfield is high on the backside, I can made the screw through the playfield and backbox).

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/4584/imgp0854x.th.jpg (http://img682.imageshack.us/i/imgp0854x.jpg/)
Look the picture in detail, then you will see how I made it.
The polycarbonat is between 2 borders, I can move it to the right side after removing the right border you see on the first and second picture. It's cheap, easy and works - when I made the black paper on the complete area of the polycarbonat you can't see that is "a thing" in front of the display. Because the polycarbonat is 3mm thick.

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/3718/imgp0855z.th.jpg (http://img682.imageshack.us/i/imgp0855z.jpg/)
The polycarbonat over the playfield is easy too. It lie on two borders left and right.
I can remove the backglas, move the playfield and lie it on my bed, than I can move the playfield-glas over the backside of the playfield and then it's removed.
It's very easy and fast. I don't need a lockdownbar. ;)

Other question or detail pictures? Write it, I made it :D

First: When Black (Christopher Leathley) view this: I hav't use a "hack-version" of FuturePinball (there was a threat in the closed forum) - I has connect two displays over only one cable. The small display was my backglas (that was a test) and I only have 1366x768 pixel on the video. The FuturePinball-logo is on the right side. You can't see it very well, because all is shifted to the right side.

Yesterday I receive my new playfield display a BenQ V2400 ECO - 13,9W - LED-Backlight with 24 inch.
(Have send back the Dell G2410, the BenQ is better - don't know what some website test...:stupid: the BenQ is better as they test...)

Next month I buy 2 displays of that again (cost 247 € on Amazon.de).
After that must finish my little princess PC and than have money again for a new graficcard. Want to buy me a Radeon 5750 (but be open what Nvidia build in the next weeks).

Yeah the Benq doesnt have the greatest of viewing angles looking at that youtube clip, but that tends to be the way with the majority of PC (unless you spend £300+ on an IPS panel), LCD TVs are on the whole alot better for viewing angles than lower end PC monitors

rosezentrier
01-15-2010, 02:51 PM
I know what you mean.
Has a IPS-Panel here and for years a S-PVA with overdrive.

But the BenQ is good enough, have "for me" very good viewing angels, better as a G2410 LED display.

I don't buy a CCFL-backlight display again.
The power consumption is too high (LED= 13,9 Watt / CCFL = 60-100 Watt). And I find the colours are better with LED.
Find it's better for my eyes too (on my work I have 2 displays, must watch the complete working time on this)

When I want to have a IPS-Panel with LED-Backlight it cost me some thousend € - that's more the complete pinball costs.

Today I finish my first display building --> the backglas display.

Looks now realy good I find, run a little bit HyperPin on it (have only 1 DVI connection on my old card. For the new I must wait).

Here new pics.

Now I have 2 BenQ V2400 ECO (13,4 W) LED-Backlight here.
On the first I write this, the second is my playfield.

Have change the paper from black to yellow. Looks better now (for me).

But there was the problem "how shut them on?".
Both are BenQ - Backglas a 18,5" LED-Backlight and the Playfield a 24" LED-Backlight.
Both go not in the "on" stage when the power come back.

How I shut the Backglas on, have I post with some pictures much of days ago.
Now I must think about the playfield.

And it was so easy too
Have glue with tape a little thing over the powerswitch.
Then I press the polycarbonat it goes down a little bit, but enough to press the powerswitch down and shut the display on.

I have not connect it to the pc yet.
The HDMI-cable for the playfield come tomorrow. Than I can play again "a little bit".
Must see in february or march (or later?) I will buy me a ATI 5750 with 1GB hope that is enough.

Step after Step :turtle:

No, no :)

I ask the BenQ-Support (some weeks ago), they wrote me that "all" BenQ-Displays do not that.

Has a Dell G2410 here (go back) that display make it, but the BenQ do not make it.
That was the problem, but I solved it.

The video is "how I made it". Can make a second video to show you that the BenQs go not return to the "on" mode. But it's late, hope you believe what I wrote without a second video.

I would not make me so much work, when it would go easier.

Yes, you are right.
Last year I sad this come in June 2010.

...sell something on Ebay... that's so cool:
Buy it for 179€ in 2007 - sell it 2010 for 180€ - in the time use it every day.
What was it? A Digital-Everywhere FireDTV DVB-C.
The display cost 247€ - that was easy to buy it earlier.

Now I must see what's next.
Must buy a 3. display 247€ (the same) for my doughter pc and hardware components that cost 300€. After that I can buy me Radeon 5750.

That takes some months again.

Thanks.

The future runs faster to me :top:

I want to buy me a ATI 5750 1 GB from Sapphire on the 08.02.2010 (money day).
Hope that runs good with Win7 64 and FuturePinball.

125 € on Amazon.de

The card have 4 connections:
2x DVI
1x HDMI
1x DisplayPort

You can use 3 and the same time (displayport over a little active box when you only have DVI/HDMI displays).

I only want to use 2 displays at the same time.
Ask AMD for that, they wrote me yesterday, that is ok.
I can connect 3 displays and the card knows which is "ON".
That's the best I can do for not install a pc in my case.
(Need not a second pc to play other games)

Make update pics/vids here than, hope it runs.
Want not wait for nvidia new cards.

Want to say you that a Gigabyte ATI Radeon 5750 1 GB is on the way to me.
Hope I become it tomorrow.

Then the hardware is complete for test with 2 displays.
I'm very excited about the connections of the graficcard.

There are 2x DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 Display-Port.

You can use 3 connections at the same time, when you use for 3. display the display-port-connection. I don't want to have a 3-display (DMD) case. But that could be a way to use 3 displays with only one graficcard.

Read on XBITLABS in the internet, that a 5750 1 GB is in the same class as a Geforce GTX 260 much times faster ;) but need not so much of energy - that's better for the bill.

Give you update pics and vids when I can say "yes it's finish".
...then the waiting time is faster over as I ever dream of.

I know the things about display port...
Thanks for your kind words.

I have the 5750 1 GB here.
All is connected - 3 displays - but only 2 have a picture at the same time (that's what I want).
Have connect only 2 displays physical but it's the same - no backglas picture.

Hyperpin runs... WITH backglas picture
FuturePinball only with ONE display.

What make I wrong?
Have start it in arcardemode, have made "use second display for backglas".
When I start a table, I become NOT a picture on the second display...

There is a signal, but not a picture... oh my god is that a ATI-problem too?
I hope it not, try a little bit more out.

Hope that I can finish it... the fun goes down hour after hour of trying.

In the time I write this, I be happy that I NOT buy it on Ebay or from a local dealer.
Send it back and wait what nvidia bring out next.

Try it out... post what I find out later. There is 50/50 - it runs / it runs not.

It is back...
....have send back my 5750 to the shop.

I have test all configurations, all that are possible.
Have test Win7 in 32 bit and 64 bit, have test different cable connections on the card, have test different configuration in the catalyst control center and in the windows configuration.

Nothing help, I found this out: Press STRG+ALT+Delete and go to the taskmanager, then I see the taskmanager and backglas, when I close taskmanager the backglas seems to close too.

I can make this some times again and again, with the same results.

I think it is not a "old" ATI-graficcard problem, but the 5750 is one of the very new generation of cards.
With eyefinity, 3 display-connections there are many things - only one of that can make trouble.

Now my old but Nvidia-card is installed again.
I have two options:
-wait for fermi and test then again - hope that is it.
-when it is not, I can by me a used 9800 GT on Ebay for small money.

But I don't want to buy old hardware what takes much of energy - needs noisy cooling.

Wait (TM) again for nvidia :toilet: on the toilet nvidia make fermi and I wait :D

I now know again "my first 3D card was a geforce, I have never trouble with nvidia drivers, games etc" = I'm a nvidia-fanboy ;)

...Waiting ...Nvidia Fermi...

Today I receive a little box, found it on Amazon here and on Ebay.
With this little box, I can splitt the video signal on two displays.

Both are 16:9 with 1080p.

The box only need a little power supply with 5V / 1 A
- 0,9 Watt stand by
-2 Watt with 1 display
-2,7 Watt with 2 displays

Why I need it?
-I dont want to buy a second pc only for the pinball.
-Have no luck with the 3 connections of a ATI 5750 1 GB (become not a backglas image)

It works wonderful, without any trouble. But the same with all: Don't connect it as "Hot Plug". This could be damage it. My oppo dvd player have this warning in the manual. (the player is not value ;) )

Yes you are right, pay not learning money for this... and be pc-freak since 1995 build many pcs from this time. In the last months I hear enough of trouble about ATI-cards.
But all "my games" run. I don't want it true - want to test it out for myself :flute:

The technic from ATI isn't bad, but the driver, that's the point I learn over the last days.

Why a 9800GT as "Silent Cell"? Don't want to use it without any fan, install a big slow fan on the cooler, but noisy is a "no go" for me. My complete pc is a silent-pc (work in emergency call center, have enough noise, stress there, need a little bit silent at home).

Energy consumption - is heavy too cool it "silent" and cost much of money on the energy bill here. (Don't play "only" pinball)

Wish me luck with my 9800GT and pinball.

It's too bad that you were unable to get your ATI card to work. I wish I knew more about them.

The new "Fermi" Geforce Chips have the same problem - No one knows about the functions of the new card with our favorite pinball software.

For Nvidia I can say this:
I have a nephew he buy for his pc the newest games - he don't ask me "are they compible with my pc" he buy it - now I have to made the support.

I have build the pc, he have Vista 32bit, make a "ATI" 4670 in the case (its a little bit time ago).
The most of his games, he have trouble - his pc is faster as mine...

The solution could be a "nvidia" card.
Over the years and the last months I learn again that this is right:
"The way it's meant to be play it" ---> Nvidia.

With a little bit luck, he give me his games for a test time and then I can try it out.
I can drive to him and build my 9800GT in his case. And I would say now "it will be run without trouble".

I'm not sure for 100% but over the half.

Next post I be back again on topic "finish my cabinett".:deal:

Be in "stand by" for a little bit time - my dad want a new fast :burnout: pc too.

The best of my pinball is the power consumption:
125W take the pc, 15W the playfield, 10W the backglas, I don't need any fan in the cab, can here only some air flow of my silent-pc but nothing from the cab. Only the music and sounds.

2 speakers
some buttons, wood and cables
...but no pc inside.

I have a 3. display (for other games, office, internet...)
I play too www.ts2010.com
In this game I has only 20 fps - with a 5750 1 GB I has the double fps.

After reading a post in VP-Forum this here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=6174&hl=preview+driver

I have now again the same card - a Gigabyte Radeon 5750 with 1 GB.
With the 10.2 driver nothing goes. With the 10.3 driver it runs. I'm very happy.
60 fps without go down (don't know vsync enabled or not at the moment) but it is very smooth with FuturePinball and with backglas image too.

-the fps are higher
-the power consumption is lower
-can cool it silent
-don't must use a old driver.

...the best before I go to work today was: dady what΄s that a new pinball table? She is so great, can stand in front of the pinball and play how all the others play real. She play steel wheel special edition. Her favorite is Bubble Bobble.

Here I switch between 3 displays, all are connected on one pc and one Radeon 5750 1 GB.

With the driver 10.3 I replace my working display with the playfield display make the backglas to the extend display. When I have enough from pinball go back this way and have only 1 display used - all without other tools/hardware.

When I would have a DMD display I can run all 3 but one must connect to the display port...

look on the apron - the second I have to do - it's much of work, one table goes faster, one need more time - how I made can you read here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=6639

I resize with this every table, not only make it on the size of the display, resize the table it self.

Here is what I mean with "resize" the table it self
Before on my cabinet:
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/5468/futurepinball2010041000n.th.jpg (http://img695.imageshack.us/i/futurepinball2010041000n.jpg/)

And after some hours work on it:
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/5844/futurepinball2010041000.th.jpg (http://img695.imageshack.us/i/futurepinball2010041000.jpg/)

Have a look on detail, only then you see it.

This table is a lot of more work as the others.
Must resize the playcards copy that to the apron and insert it there, because the model is to great for this view.

Nice table and the painted artwork on the side is very unique. I almost bought this pinball cabinet yesterday but I ended up picking up a Bally Power Play cab instead. Unfortunately the Monte Carlo there was in pretty rough shape and I just wanted to minimize my work in restoring it for my own person pincab project.

Very nice cab indeed. I am thinking about building something similar. A pinball "controller" if you will, without an internal PC. Are you still satisfied with this solution ?

Do you only switch between displays using the driver settings ? (for regular PC use ?)

Anyway, thx for posting your work :)

Yes, I'm very happy with this solution.
It cost me not a complete new pc - have only 1 for all - gaming (other games too), play pinball or work, or go to the internet or wathing tv...

Yes I switch between the 3 displays with the ATI-driver.
Only 10.3 or higher work with futurepinball don't know about visual pinball (have not the time) have only resize the complete table. The last I have finished is old chicago (Popotte/Greywolf).

How it looks with safari now:
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6608/600450.jpg
more to this herehttp://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=7097&view=findpost&p=56149

Move all under the apron (all the table need for the ball) and the apron it self down.
With the changing of the registry settings (find Rawd) it looks now more fantastic as before.

Back to the ATI-driver...
It's so easy ;)
I click with the right mouse button on my desktop go to ATI catalyst control center - go to desktop and displays - click on the second 24" display and say "replace" now my working display go to standby - now work on the playfield display - say to the 3. display "extend" and make it "ok".

Start FuturePinball and play...
Have enough - go this way back:
-disable the 3. display
-replace the playfield with my working display.
-now the playfield go standby.

All is possible with the ATI Eyefinity: all 3 displays are connect on 1 Radeon 5750 1GB.

All with HDMI/DVI-cables - I can only use 2 at the same time - swith 2 of it with the ati-driver...

With a HDMI-repeater you can make it much more.
I have 5000mm it's the max cable lengh. With a repeater you can move it up to 10000mm ore more.

...on the first of my last pictures (the backbox) you can see the ATI Control center and the 3 displays - I can swith between 3 display (but only 2 can work at the same time - 3 at the same time is only possible with 1 connect with Display-port-cable)

...when you look on the left side of the pinball you can see there are a lot of cables:
-1 DVI for the 18,5" LED-backlight-lcd-display
-1 HDMI for the 24" LED-backlight-lcd-display
-1 sound cable
-1 usb-cable for the I-Pac

all go 1,5m to the left side around 1 furniture, the behind my pc-furniture.
That's the best solution for me, save money, make it me possible to use 3 displays (I only use 1 for play other games and the 2 displays only for pinball)
The other good is - I don't need any fan in the cab. Nothing... only some cooling (you see on pictures before).
The display power is: 10W for the 18,5" and 15W for the 24" - they don't need more for cooling ;)
The key is the "LED-backlight"!
Both are from BenQ... cost not much of money - V2400Eco is the playfield, the 18,5" I'don't know the name...

When I have more time I will try to upload some videos again (after have much of problems with that)

...one I forgot, my self made plunger switch:
http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=47388&postcount=2

work perfect. I have a microswitch here, but I don't need to change something on this -because it works, it works over months now without any problems - I only must make the cable on max. strong - it can not move it self now - after doing that I don't have any problems. Play and have fun now :)

Thx for your fast reply. I will go for a similar setup then. Maybe i will build it so that i could place an internal PC in the future, but leave it out for now.

I don not think i can hook up 3 monitors with my videocard (asus en9800GT) so i would have to use some kind of switch. But that is no problem.

I will keep you informed, when i start the build

A little .txt Update ;)

-have buy me a higher furniture now the playfield start at 900mm
-have buy one bar stool now I can stay in front of the pinball or sitting in front and play.

Pictures come next days, have more fun now (and only 4 tables finished (resize the table itself for my cabinet) :slug:)
-Have buy me a HD-cam for small money, want to reactivate my youtube account and then show you new videos.
....have fun for all.

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/3117/imgp1106n.jpg

Playfield is now in front 900mm high
Bar stool is 750mm high

YouTube Account is recreated (it was easy) now wait for the HD-cam to show you some better videos as with digicam from my wife.

...have from the start only "polycarbonat" installed, no great trouble with scratch (you can only see someone in direct sunlite) or with milking the glass or others.
But I have both LED-LCD-Displays - 10W for the backglas and 12-15W for the playfield is'nt much... polycarbonat is not the same as plexi. Polycarbonat have we all in front of computer-displays, mobile phones, CDs/DVDs etc. ...think about real glass, but it cost much of money because safety glass is there the best for me.

Next steps I want to do is finish all the tables I have for my cabinett, then try Visual Pinball.

Thanks for posting more updates. What a fantastic looking little cabinet! It just goes to show that you can produce excellent results with smaller screens, and I look forward to seeing the HD video!

Don't those FP tables looks so much better now with the new arcade render viewing angle settings (ie: Arcade Camera Z settings).

I thank you for your words, HD-cams goes on the way on monday.
Yes, it must not be a 30" or greater - that would be cool, but when you have only a little flat and want to play real pinball simulation too, a mini-pin is your choice...
I made 2 things:
-build a minipin with cheap components:
*BenQ 2400ECO LED LCD Display 15 W power for 200 €
*BenQ 18,5" LED LCD Display 10 W power for 100 €
*some MDF with only 4mm from ebay for under 30 € all.
*Polycarbonat (not plexi) with resize-service from ebay for under 20 €
*I-PAC I think it was 80 € on www.arcadeshop.de (english too)
*the arcade buttons from www.arcadeshop.de too 30 € for all
*the speakers and amplifier from www.arcadeshop.de cost under 30 € all.
build me my own speaker chases (you can see it some picture some sites back)
*the plunger - from a pinball shop cost 20 €
*the colours for the cabinet buy it in local shop here costs 30 € for all

-the second all without pc components:
*all is connected over 500mm cables to the pc will show it in first 720p video, hope next week.
*2 HDMI/DVI cables for the display
*1 USB-cable is connected on USB-Switch (can manual switch on/off the I-PAC)
*1 Audio-cable

With the Radeon 5750 I can switch between 3 displays, don't need the hdmi-splitter.
With this I have the chance to work, to play and play with my pinball cab.
...will show how I switch in the ATI-driver on the video too.

How much cost it all? I would say with the Radeon 5750 and the cables it must be around 700 €.

The best of all are the LED-LCD-Displays. For a big cab I would buy the same (when I would have a house ;) )because I don't need any active cooling in the cab. Only passive cooling with some big holes in the cabinet.
With this and my silent-pc I can enjoy only the pinball sounds.

Future Pinball and that what RAWD find out here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=7097

I have change some more things, it is a lot of work, but the result is very nice:

Windows-Registry: regedit in your windows console
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
Software\
Future Pinball\
GamePlayer\

ArcadeCameraZ change to 10a
ArcadeLightY change to 450

ArcadeLightZ change to 600

With only change the z-camera this:
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/3760/10dcz.jpg
That is only with change camera "Z"...

With change all:
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6608/600450.jpg

Have a look on the "10" of the bumpers... in the first they are too bright... you can't see the 10.

I change the table it self...
Move the apron down and all that is under it. That takes hours for the first, than it goes faster with every table you change.

Here what I do: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=6639
(users are the same = I :D )

Here is a video from RAWD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_nPdfhR33c
After change this table it looks now: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4623/futurepinball2010040601.th.jpg (http://img338.imageshack.us/i/futurepinball2010040601.jpg/)

The difference? Look on the down side, you can see more, now you can see the "bonus arrow" ;)

There are 2 different things what the table builders do:
-first users cut out the apron from only one picture
-the second users made a apron picture for it self and a picture for the rest of the table.

Hope that I find the time to write a step for step list for this 2 art of tables.
In VP-forums on my link you find a begin...

...why not a "to do video" can cut it and when you see what I do, it's more easy for me to made and for you don't must read the english words with wrong orthography:)
....I will try to made this "to do video" with my change of the next tables, when it is finished I will post the youtube-link here and in vp-forums forum.

Thanks for going into so much detail. It is good to see a summary of the steps. I had plans for a large pinball cabinet, but I think my carpentry skills are so bad it will be a disaster and I will end up bodging it. Therefore I am thinking of doing a small cab like yours which hopefully will be easier.

I really like the old retro look and feel of your cab, because I prefer the older tables (although some of the newer tables are also fantastic).

I have the PC now with a good nVidia GTX 260 card (waited 2.5 months for it to arrive - a supply problem). I would also like the cabinet to double up as a Jukebox and I think DWJukeBox is a fantastic Jukebox simulator so plan to use that.

I have been working in Geneva for over a year, and are moving the family there with me in a few weeks from the UK :creep:. Once settled my first project is to build a cab (well try to!).

Cheers

((SORRY for bad english))

The first I made, I would make it again...
Build a PAPER-Pinball - on my first picture you see it
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5144/75721422.jpg
Here you can try out all, without costs...

First there is a "begin to do it or START your work".
It was not a easy way to build this mini-cab. You see from the first post how much time it takes... you must have fun with that what you do.

I make a little picture to do list, for all they are not good in artwork (ME TOO).
I copy this you see from the FuturePinball Texture-Manager
You can now search every good old table you find, there are much...
Than make my to do list and you become your own old pinball cabinet to your home. For example this:
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8767/cabinetpicturecopy1.jpg
There are only 3 colours, on my too.
On this are white, red, green thats all you need, take water colors is better for your health. Paint first all with the background colour here white,
then make this:
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/2141/cabinetpicturecopy2.jpg
Open the table there you like the cabinet, open Table/TextureManager
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5370/cabinetpicturecopy3.jpg
Search for a picture you see in my screenshot there is one for front, left, right, backglass left right. Now EXPORT it to your hard drive
You can cut all single pictures with a great program like GIMP, import it here
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/3011/cabinetpicturecopy4.jpg

The next steps are easy...
You must measure out the sides of your pinball cab.
Now resize the picture on this real size, GIMP can do this too...

Now you need a other software the name you find it in a searching machine is "poster software" you find it in freeware... test some programs.
When you find a program that is print out your pinball cab sites in real scale on some paper sites (with a normal ink printer) you must only print it out
and cut the colours out http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9472/imgp0814.jpg
You find the pictures in this threat too.
Now take it as a stencil and mark the contours of the picture on your cabinet
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/610/imgp0843.jpg
After that paint color after color on your cabinet, I take a small screwdriver with this I can paint every little detail. Every side and colour take 4 hours to do... it's not easy, but I don't like only "one" color ;)

Large Pinball is the same as little pinball, you must make all a little bit greater... more wood, more cooling, more to do - but better gaming.
I'm happy with my little cab. A little cab is more as nothing:top:

Give you a chance, all you need is much of glue, a little bit wood some colours, 2 displays and all I say again and again :flute:

All on my cabinet is hand working - the only thing a machine do is the holes for buttons and cooling. With a machine that cut out he pieces it would be nicer. You find a complete to do list in this forum, search a little bit (I do the same) And ask the users... RAWD is my first and best inspiration and was very helpfull to do what he said.

...for the older feel of the cab - now you have a to do list too
I make the same - my model was monte carlo from Bally 1973
Here is it: http://www.pinsimdb.org/fpreleases/tables/47-monte_carlo

Hi all,
I add a nice feature to my cabinet - I play a backgroundsound like a pinball hall with windows media player - to open that in autostart is option too.

I want to have the ambience from the Nintendo Wii game:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x11gq9_wii-gottlieb-pinball-classics_fun

Here is a little video, have to take some stripes to make the video with my mobile phone on my neck :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ7B5Acl-mI

The soundfile: http://de.audiomicro.com/sport-wild-glucksspiel-casino-make-sound-old-freizeitpark-arcade-sound-effekte-520740
Mix the end with a other file. Play it in repeat with windows media player on volume 30%.
