This is a crazy kool theme I am working on. It is going to take some time to do the wheel art and the flyers and the default system. But the main menu for this is done and is freaking bad ass.

Thanks for pushing this to the next level Koolbreez, your work is awesome dude!

got thinkn, in your video i think you mentioned that you couldn't do 2vids hence the mods to the "contra"screen, Not sure how many layers are in the theme but what if a short .flv clip is used there as another layer? or maybe i've got the wrong idea.

Awsome work Koolbrez67!,

I think that two vids at a time isnt supported in hs yet, but the mad scientist circo could mesh two vids into one to make just for this theme, but that's alot to ask, I don't know how to do it, but I know it's possible...

garwil
11-11-2009, 03:27 PM
Is there a way of converting a video into an SWF file and having that as one of the artwork layers?

koolbrez67
11-11-2009, 04:00 PM
I looked into this but there would be to many memory drains and it might crash HS. Since the playchoice 10 and the Vs system had single monitor Cab versions I will use those as my cabs in the default theme. I am just finished the flyers for both of the systems more work than I really thought it would be. I need to do the wheel art now. Then I will do the default theme.

I want to thank BodyDump for helping me with the wheel art. I will keep you all posted on how this is going. I still have a long way to go. I am making a video and directions on how to make it work on a single screen in MAME. I am also making a video and directions to make it on 2 screens. I will keep you all posted. This will be released when the New HS comes out. This will be the First NEW Gen Theme.

Man that's so nice! Is it for the intermediate background thing BBB mentioned in his last update? Or does that just show up whatever the default background is between themes?

Also, out of interest, I noticed you did the Nintendo Super System games. I wasn't aware they were working in MAME, are you using another emu for them?

Thanks again dude!

Some of them work , I heard that they will be updating those games soon so I went ahead and finished them. There is only 12 games . I thought I heard BBB say there was going to be multi support if so I will just add the regular super nintendo games to take there place so it's playible til they finish it in the future.

Welll well...

It just so happens that earlier this week I started gutting out an old R-Type cabinet to build an all Nintendo theme system into it... and tonight I found this thread!

It turns out its a Nintendo classic cabinet that appears to be factory black laminate and black trim. Artwork here is intact: marquee, control panel, sideart.

I'm not sure how one would go about attempting to scan such artwork however, but I'm here to help!

EDIT: Its one of the cheaper built particle board cabinets. I have Nintendo classic cabinets in both plywood/formica and particle-board/non-formica. All the others are orange or blue. This is the only exception I've seen. I dont know if the non-formica cabinets were made later or made elsewhere, but its excruciating to attempt to touch up the paint in the non-formica blue cabinets... you might as well attempt to match paint to formica! I can say that the black surface of this particle board cabinet is as deeply ingrained into the wood as another blue cabinet I have like this. Its hard to say what they used to coat these types of cabinets, and I happen to be quite familiar with exotic paints and laminates. Side note: These old 19" cabinets are easy to outfit as you can get 19" CRT computer monitors off of craigslist for $10. It DOES have a Nintendo metal stamped factory serial number plate above the backdoor. I guess they got cheap. Original classic cabinets were all (thin) plywood. Crappy particle board cabints have smooth fine particle compressed boards for the front / side pieces, but rough-cut panels for any pieces on the inside or back of the cabinets. The board in this machine is real, and I doubt itd be worth a bootleggers time to replicate oddball Nintendo monitors. If an outfit were to attempt (especially in those days) to build bootleg cabinets to put real Nintendo parts into, I'd expect them to use a type of paint / laminate surfacing I could identify.
In short, I contend that this is a factory original cabinet style.

EDIT: Now that I checked my MAME extras set there are some low quality images of the control panel and marquee in it. I can provide better, with my camera anyways. I think the real key to this cabinet however was the proper cabinet color. I havent gotten as far as cleaning the actual cabinet / artwork on this project yet, its a mess.

You've just been helped by the HS Police. I'm Here to serve and protect users.

Have a nice day.

I looked there too. The video on adding new themes was simply a copy paste to the mame theme folder. Maybe I missedwhere a video was added to the main menu video folder.

No worries bro , I think you forgot who I was or something. We've talked many time before about your cab and Vegas. I hadn't seen you in a while and was giving you a hard time. I know you know your stuff bro. wasn't flaming you trust me.

Koolbrez67, thank you for the help and time. Your theme is now working great.

I just need the Emumovies for this theme and I'm set (currently downloading). I've added many of your wheel art sets too, they all look great. I think we should let the topic get back on track.

Okay, I'm going to need to collect a bridge tol for all that water and submit a fine for aggravated batteries in your vmus. But I'm willing to give you both warnings this time. Now, touch gloves and ..oh wait, this post is getting pretty wack, gonna have to pull myself over!

Seriously though lemoncade, if you saw something you think should be added to the tutorial, please pm me.

I'm sorry that this thread keeps taking a turn off-topic.

Shimoda, I think what you took the time to do was great and helpful. That was a lot of your time to donate for free. Cheers for that!

I hope you don't take my post as a complaint. I was simply telling Koolbrez67 that I did indeed look where he said I should have looked and the answer wasn't there (that I found). I was not putting down your tutorial, just stating that twice Kool linked me to help, which did not answer the question asked (that I could find).

Hopefully this thread will get back on topic.:)

Wow this looks really awesome. Is this theme available to everyone now? If so, where?
