Hi,
I plan to install that freeware to create my themes. (I use to work on paint shop pro 9 but I formatted my pc last month and lost the software)
Does anyone know "The Gimp" well ?
Is it possible to create transparent png's ?
Is there a background eraser as paint shop or photo shop ?

Not sure if Gimp supports transparent PNG's but I have heard it's good so more than likely it would.
You might want to check out the online software in this thread too: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=513

I'm not a Gimp expert or anything and I prefer Photoshop but I am 200% sure that the Gimp supports transparent png files. It's a very sophisticated piece of software. It's definitely no worse than Photoshop at any rate.

I've tried Gimp like 3 times and gave it an honest shot at image editing, and I just cant get into it.
Some things that bother me are:
Not being able to move one image over to another canvas by dragging
Cant control click a layer to simply select it that image.
No polygonal lasso tool.
Cant add to selection simply.
When scaling you have to click the canvas once before activating the transform tool.
Hard to figure out how to have a selection, select a different layer and remove that selection from a different image.
After not being able to simply do quick tasks like that I just gave up.

I think you might like paint.net if you previously used paint shop pro.

Yeah I like it, but didn't find a background eraser like in PSP 9.
