Hi,

My first attempt with The Gimp :

Animations : some grows, fades, hover ...

Maybe the background is a little poor ?

Maybe spread the devil artwork wider to to touch the right side of the screen ?


What you think ?

Sweet....I love ghosts 'n goblins!

Some observations:

The bottom artwork should definately stretch across the screen. It looks weird ending the way it does now.

The background is a little bland.

I would try to enlarge the video area if possible as well.

I notice the title says Ghost 'N Goblins instead of Ghosts 'N Goblins?

All in all...a nice first attempt.

Damn, this was totally going to be my next theme. :) I love this game so much. So many quarters.... Ya, that piece at the bottom needs to be stretched or edited somehow to fill the screen. That really is hilarious though that the promotional poster spelled the game name incorrectly!

In the game it does says ghosts and not ghost so you'll have to fix that somehow. Don't ask me how but ya.

Finished It.

Cleaned up and sharpen the background,

Adjusted some animation timings,

Added a capcom logo artwork at the bottom right

Ready to upload.

Any suggestions ?

It looks good. You still have to fix the text though. It's ghostS and goblins. There's a version of it in this other thread:

So there must be a marquee of it or something somewhere. Original poster or not it looks pretty lame if it's misspelled.

Well done EvilDindon, my only suggestions would be to make the logo overlap the video rather than the video overlap the logo, it would be good if you could get the logo with the correct spelling if possible, whoever the artist is who stuufed up the original flyer is still causing hassles 22 years later. :banghead:

Yeah I'm fixing the missing S logo right now.

But I don't know how to set overlap priority in hypertheme ?

It has to do with which artwork you choose to make something. Artwork1 is the lowest, artwork 2 is above artwork 1, artwork 3 above 2, and so on.

I don't know where the video fits into all of that but with a bit of playing around I'm sure you can figure it out.

Video is by default between artwork1 and artwork2.

Also I blindly approved this.. So hopefully it works.. Im assuming it does due to the first theme being approved.

Hrmmm - well, there's now a new problem unfortunately with this theme. Specifically this:

I wasn't paying close enough attention to the screenshots but it's *extremely* evident once you load it up in Hyperspin. Also for some reason the image is a lot bigger than it needs to be. (width, not file size)

Also the logo was pulsing, but when it pulsed part of it would go outside of the screen.

Anyways, this being one of my favorite games I couldn't just leave it like that, so I took the liberty of fixing it - I hope you don't mind.

This is still far from perfect and I could probably do better but at least it's respectable now. It was a complete mess before. I also modified the theme slightly so that the pulsing wouldn't go off screen. I might have changed the other settings a tad by accident... it's more or less the same though. I couldn't load up the old theme in Hypertheme and I was too lazy to edit by hand so... ya.

Anyways, I don't think I should upload this since it's 90% Dindon's work so here's the link and hopefully an Admin can replace the other version with this - crediting Dindon. (I put his name in the zip.)

Yeah you're right, I just noticed the imperfections.

Anyway, your cleaned logo must replace mine : maybe the administrators could do this, instead of me uploading th entire theme ?

Evil Dindon - no there isn't. That's just leftover from your version of the theme. I didn't use artwork1 so you need to go into the artwork1 directory and delete gng.png

Once you do this the theme will display correctly.

Hyperspin likes to put unused images in the top left corner for some reason so if you change your theme for a particular game you have to watch out for this. It confused the hell out of me the first time I saw it too. :)
