HyperTheme is close to being finished and I'd say about a week left of work depending on how much time I get to work on it.

You can individually import any artwork now but not whole themes yet, which I'm working on today. The 3 color video border designing portion is almost done also. I also still have to write the exporting features also but that shouldnt be to hard.

This looks very nice and is just what was needed. My graphic design skills aren't great or I would of already worked on some themes as I'm used to editing config files by hand, but this should really open up the number of people able to work on themes and really speed up their creation.

In the couple of weeks I was gone alot has happened, you are a busy man BBB, and everyone else.

I'm curious... when HyperSpin is released, will it come with all the most recently made official themes? Or will they be released seperately? Or not at all and we use this tool to create our own themes?

I'm curious... when HyperSpin is released, will it come with all the most recently made official themes? Or will they be released seperately? Or not at all and we use this tool to create our own themes? The themes are all separate downloads with the exception of the main menu theme pack that we have setup. This way you can choose what games you want to setup and download only what you need.

To add to what Dazz said we are toying with the idea of putting a torrent together. The said torrent will include hyper theme , hyper hq, hyperspin, all configs and themes. Just drag and drop. Its currently 630 mb.

We are makin very good progress.

If size is an issue, the torrent could be a bit smaller by not inluding the attract mode vids. However having the attract vids included (and I say keep them in there) and in the proper directories makes setting up HS a breeze. It truly is drag and drop simple. Totally excellent!

If you are creating a torrent. Do you plan to create a dat in clrmame and use torrentzip to zip up? In that way, people can sort their current files and join in on subsequent releases???

I could create some themes based on MAME/Console games if needed.

I can mail examples of my work if someone's interested..

Cool. Is there a template I can follow?

Not really. Alot of themes are similar in format if you take a look at the screenshots. If you are familiar with Photoshop, create a new document with the following dimensions:

1024 x 768 pixels., 72 dpi.

Create a few layers (usually 3-5) for your design elements. 1 for the title of the game, 1 for the background, 1 or 2 for other art elements (like character, etc) and make one layer with a 640x480 px solid. This is a placeholder for your video preview. Actually any size with a 4x3 length to width ratio is fine as most video previews are scaled down in themes.

That should get you started. Once HT is released, we will have a tutorial on how to put everything together.

I might have a crack at something then. Are the currently released themes all documented in the themes forum? No sense in duplicating something that's already been done.

Right-o, I'll get to work :)

Would it be possable to snag a ready made theme or just the artwork stuff? It'd make things a lot easier.
