View Full Version : Non Duplicates, Mame.xml?

Hey everyone, I started working on a non-duplicates/clones version of the MAME.XML file. Favoring more recent versions over older ones, and US roms over others when possible, with WORLD being a second choice, and any other region being a last resort.
But I wanted to check and see if someone had already done this. I'll continue with it until/unless I hear otherwise I suppose.

I believe this can basically be done using the romlister program - at least you'll get a good headstart.

Do you mean HyperList?
I am very interested in this. I want all roms for collection purposes, but would love to have the wheel "cleaned up" so to speak (as far as for gameplay). Keep me posted.

I don't want to go through the trouble of manually setting up new wheels for every genre it generates, or tracking down duplicates that are in more than one genre, etc etc etc.
Right now despite the available utilities, it seems more intuitive to just manually edit the xml file. Using a program that does not do specifically what I want will only cause more work unfortunately.
if the hyperlist rom manager allowed you to -remove- a rom/game from the list before generating it would pretty much be perfect, perhaps in the future.
Edit: Replaced what looks like drunken slurring with english.

After looking into this further, I agree, just manually editing it is probably going to be the easiest way. Good idea though.

I don't mean hyperlist - I mean a different program called romlister, it's not a hyperspin app but it supports outputting hyperspin format xmls.

You know after taking a look in the dev forum it looks like the next release is going to do exactly what I'm trying to do manually.

My fault, I assumed HyperList. I looked up ROMLISTER and it looks like it will definitely do the trick until the new release. Thanks for the heads up.

It would be nice if hyperlist had on option for generating xml lists based on your system type. IE. joystick only games, light gun games, trackball etc so that you could easily include or remove games from the xml. Also an option to select and remove games based on language would be nice as well. Right now I'm using a combo of RomCenter and hyperlist to do this.
