I was wondering does anyone have an xml file with all the MAME themes on it?

I am trying to add all the themes and thought it would be a good idea if someone uploaded it so that we don't have to add them all manually.

Maybe Circo has one as he has a video on his site showing all the themes!:flute:

I have it at my house, and I can post it later. I made a spot for it on the wiki though, so if someone has it now, please just copy and paste it on the wiki and we can keep it updated as new themes are created. Eventually, we can just zip it and place a link in there.

Here is the link to the wiki xml page:

Great idea. Please post the text to the wiki or point to a zip file. This will help new users keep up to date more easily, at least the mame portion anyway.

Scrapple,
Kudos for making a spot in the Wiki for the latest MAME XML to live. We needed something like that, especially to get new forum members up-to-speed.

I like this idea, we could even have different flavors of the MAME XML in differently named Zip files. For those that just want the romname and gamename, they can use what's on the Wiki right now. For my part, I have been maintaining a MAME XML which contains full Manufacturer, Year and Genre information, gathered from MAWS. I wouldn't mind making that available in the Wiki as well. Let me know what you think, I don't want to step on any toes.
And besides, I have no idea how to edit the Wiki :p

As far as different XML's go for diffrent mame games is concerned we have plans with our Genre selector... So Im not sure thats the best idea for now. But if you users want to share your edited mame.xml to incorporate all the new themes so new users (or lazy ones) dont have to... Its fine...

Keep in mind Hypertheme in the near future will be able to install a theme to the correct directorys and add the entry to the xml.. So dont get to used to this.

What can I say..... I'm lazy! :)

But seriously, I thought it would be a good idea especially now we are coming up to 100 MAME user created themes already!

Once the theme tool comes in this will probably become redundant, although it may still be used, but doubt it. But for now this is probably something we need!

That is exactly what we need! I think it is good to have a information, makes it more fun for the user and also gets them aware of the game makers, etc!

Absolutely right Brian, this is just a stop-gap until the next HyperTheme comes out. It will quickly become redundant.

Lazy - I resemble that :hmmmm2:

Hey Guys

I decided to upload my HS MAME .xml. This is straight from MAME with all the info, years, etc. It also includes all of the available themes as of today. Just paste over your old one if you have all the themes downloaded.

Enjoy!

Goalies Rule,

The Mame xml file you have shared, what content has it got? Is it US version of MAME 127 or up to date with the HS themes as of 4/9/08 or oother wise?

Thanks for you upload.

Yeah, it was the US Mame .127 with the current HS themes added in as of yesterday. I have the Mame .127 full file ported over to Hyper HQ if that needs shared as well. Just let me know

Thanks dazz thats just what i was looking for. I was looking through the wheel themes and you seem to have the punisher listed twice as it appears on the wheel under P and T. Just thought i would let u know.

Edit: You also seem to have New Rally X in there as well but there is no theme for that yet unless you have one made in yours.
thanks again

The problem is, its already out of date. I uploaded my new .xml in a different thread today, but once hypertheme is able to integrate themes, it wont be as necessary to have threads like this

I know but as new themes come out people can post their xmls until new hyper theme release
Working on one now myself

I think the next release which is already going to be soon will have a new feature with dealing with theme installing.

Everyone should keep a full complete mame.xml in their database folder which can be made with HyperHQ. There will be an option in each ini for each system that will allow you to only view games that have themes.

So basically you will never have to add items to your xml after that point. The only disadvantage might be it might take a second longer to load the mame wheel but its possible that it might not be noticable.

maybe I'll just post my .xml file every 5-7 days until the new theme program is ready. Im sure that will help some people out.

Very cool, looking forward to this. I can live with a 1 second delay :).
