Just a update of some bug fixes for the next release:

Fixed Zinc issue with adding period after romname
Fixed issue with spaces after romname which affects magic engine not launching games
Fixed genres causing black screen if main list wasnt called "All Games"

Will fix more of the previous finds this week also, I'll probably have the next release this weekend.

Also a new addition to HS for the next release. I've already finished this new wheel style and it runs fine. I will also be adding in the features of a fading wheel and the abilitiy to opt out of have intensive background animations.

style = vertical

I made this since some people find it hard to read the curved wheel on certain systems, this has a little more spread out logo's and not curved.

Hi BadBoyBill,

Thanks for the news. With the addition of:

" the ability to opt out of have intensive background animations"

Does this mean the people who use say just full screen video background as the only theme for HS, that the new feature will remove the 'Black' screen when moving from game to game on the wheel (ie. now there will be a smooth transition from one game to the next)?

thanks,

Dariusz

The black screen your seeing is just the background while spinning the wheel, you dont want the video to be playing or switching while spinning the wheel, it will make the wheel real slow. You see this feature with other FE's usually because they are only using text lists which doesnt interfere as much as the way were doing it. If I did it youd be trying to load a full screen 5-15mb video every wheel turn while your spinning the wheel very fast just wont work.

New wheel style looks nice, I think I'll probably still use the curved but its always nice to have options, thanks BBB

With this next release are you also releasing hyperlaunch with it?

BadBoyBill

I will continue to use the normal wheel style but since you can pick any wheel style for any system i might use vertical for some console systems like ngpc where tge wheel is hard to read.
As for hyperlaunch, I will put it out also.

That wheel style will come in handy, i think being able to assign diffenent wheelstyles to different consoles will add more vaiety as well.

I come back from vacation and this place is a whole lot diffferent (in a good way). New wheel style looks good. Glad you added the background option.

Everything sounds and looks real nice, just wondering if you're doing anything else (besides the one in the WIP) to help HS run faster on slower systems? Thanks

Background animations are the main cause for slowness, I will just be adding the feature to disable some of those for now. Have you tried running in a lower resolution?

BobBorakovitz
09-03-2008, 07:05 PM
no, only the default resolution, I'll give that a shot in the meantime, though. Thanks!

Ya it still looks good at 800 x 600 and my arcade machines monitor only goes up to 640x480 and that also looks fine. Its worth a shot.

yes thanks so much for giving us the ability to finally disable certain background animations...even on my machine the ones that bounce in or whatever u call that transition rly ruins flipping through the themes

It's good to provide the option to turn the background animations off, and not removing it outright. On my 3.4 ghz arcade cab, there is a very slight slowdown effect, which is mostly not noticeable, so I'm glad it's still in. Give the user the option I always say :).

Ya fading wheel is done, remove background animations all together is done, just remove advanced animations is done, several bug fixes, new wheel style, just working on a couple more things.

I dont know if this has been mentioned already, but will the next release support vertical mounted displays??

BadBoyBill
09-09-2008, 12:44 PM
HyperSpin will probably not support vertical setups, the themes would have to be redone for vertical setups and its a big enough job just doing horizontal themes.

Circo

Well if someone wanted to make some generic system themes for vertical, couldn't you just change the resolution is HS? Or does it not support vertical at all regaurdless of theme?
