Can anyone tell me where download area is for recent mame themes.... I haven't been able to find these submissions for a couple months now.

I am pretty sure they closed off submissions until the new version of Hyperspin is released. That is because the themes will now have to be in zip file with a certain compression.

It is actually the structure of the zip now. I helped repack them. Instead of have layered folders, they will all be one level.

Difference it file
Instead of having all files in the zip folder with the same name (i.e. - gt2k), the files will be in the first level of the folder and named to what they are (Artwork1, Background, Theme, etc.)

Old way:
.zip
----- |->Images
----- ----- |->Artwork1
----- ----- ----- |->gt2k.png
----- ----- |->Artwork2
----- ----- ----- |->gt2k.png
----- |->Themes
----- ----- |->gt2k.xml

New way:
.zip
|->Artwork1.png
|->Artwork2.png
|->Theme.xml
|->Background.png

Currently all new themes are on hold until the new release. I would assume this is to allow the release of the new Theme Creator as well so they packaging of the themes are done correctly. Let me know if this helps.

I personally have about 8 or 9 themes I need to upload. I am also on hold with the project of my bartop until the new release of HS, as I do not want to setup twice.

We actually added some more to the zips since the initial zip project.

New way:
.zip
|->Artwork1.png,swf
|->Artwork2.png,swf
|->Artwork3.png,swf
|->Artwork4.png,swf
|->Theme.xml
|->Background.png,swf
|->Particle.png,swf
|->Info.txt (this is just a text file that contains the creators info and theme version number)
|->gamename.png (This is the wheel image)

While HyperSpin will not read wheel images from the .zip. We have started placing the wheel images into the .zip

Themes are then named - romname-username(YYYYMMDD).zip

Users will need to rename the theme to just romname.zip and place into their theme folder for the specified system.

What is very cool is that once the new version is released a flood of new themes is going to hit the boards. Should help with the ..... Hype...

You will either need to re-download the themes or you can manually zip the ones that you currently have. Either way this new way for themes is a very good thing.

It's been said elsewhere, but if you aren't a full member (donate and become one, hint hint it has benefits :) ) I'll post a utility to repack your zips. It should work fine, except for creating any non-known info files. Or, you can just redownload from the new page. All of the files that were currently on the download page and just a few that somehow weren't (not new as yet unapproved) have been rezipped with the info Dazz mentioned. This will be a great release!
