I have installed the new version, set it up on my vista x64. When it comes up
i can select mame then go and select shooters then select
1941 for exp. then i get a black screen but i can hear it play.
on the bottom of the screen i do see part of the background at the bottom
which is the background screen you see before the game launches.
this happens with all the games.

What is wrong with this picture!

Thats a mame issue, not an HS issue, try running the game from the command line so you can see what errors come up.

mame works just fine. i can play them in mame without HS.

i am new at this. from what commandline? all i know is that i can play all the roms on mame,mamext32 and mamext64. i have unistalled reinstalled set up hshq pathes numberous times. when launching the game in hs i still get a blank screen. the games will play and i see the windows bar on the bottom of the screen free play and the joy stick. if i click on that i have to start manager to turn off hs so i can go back hit esc so i can exit from hs, but now mame runs in the background the thing is there is nothing in the start task manager telling me that mame is running to shut it off. i have spent alot of time trying to get this to work. maybe i should be content on opening mame, future pinball, atari 5200 and so on one at a time using icons on my desk top

from the commandline?

launches fine from the command line. still problems with the black screen and the games are still running in the background and sometimes i have to go into task manager to end the hs process. xml files are the same. it's got to be something simple but i am unable to figure it out. help?

try adding


WinActivate, MAME


after the run, line for MAME in hyperlaunch.

Can you Alt+tab to get mame in focus?

alt+tab just shows desktop ,hyperspin folder, hs select screen. WinActivate, MAME added no luck. i have reinstalled vista x64 on one hard drive and windows xp on another. still black screens when i run it vista x64 and if i run on windows xp. i have to go into task manager under processes and end task on both mame.exe to stop it running in the background on both operating systems depending on which one i am running at the time.
