Continuing on with the Sega Master System goodness I present After Burner.

The small plane uses an Arc Grow and there's a second plane similar to that one which also uses and Arc Grow but comes in from the left instead of the right. The video is low quality right now but you can't have everything I guess. :)

I just realized that it would look better if the plane was on the right side - covering up the wheel so I made a quick edit.

Looks awesome! My only criticism is the plane is washed out big time and the logo is washed out a little bit. If you are using photoshop, go to Adjustments - Selective color. Select Black from the pull down menu and bring the black slider to the right. This will add black to the dark areas. You might also want to color correct the plane. Looks too magenta. If you need any tips, let me know.

Looking good!

Ok, I played around with the levels a bit and this is the result.

Edit: I think I need to edit the plane that flies in a bit. There's a bit of white along one of the wings that I want to get rid of. I must have messed up while cutting it out.

Sweet theme, might as well make a mame theme out of it to?

Sweet theme, might as well make a mame theme out of it to?

Now that's getting lazy!!! Hrm... after spending all day long making the Phantasy Star and After Burner themes I think I'm allowed to be a little lazy. :) I uploaded this as an SMS theme under the name:

After Burner (USA, Europe) - Pretty sure this is the no-intro name for it. I still have to figure out how I'm going to rename all my rom files. :( Renaming them 1 by 1 as I make/install themes for them though might not be so bad.

I'll upload this as a mame theme momentarily after I modify the file names/etc so that it works.

looks great... hows this game play with a 8-way joystick instead of a stick?

Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like the theme. The SMS version plays fine with an 8-way obviously. The arcade version seems to do just fine with it as well. Try it out - it's a fun game.

Here's a screenshot of it running the arcade version of the video.... which is obviously a lot better than the SMS version. I've uploaded both arcade and sms versions of this - hopefully they'll get approved soon. *wink* *wink*

Nice theme... I just tested it. Your arc'ing airplanes fly backwards. It looks really strange and just doesn't look right. You might want to rotate the images so they appear to fly forwards instead of back.

And this children is why themes need to be approved first! After cutting images out all day people's brains tend to get fried to the point where planes flying sideways/backwards starts to look normal.

Reuploading fixed versions now...

Ok - check the uploads to make sure I'm not still fried.... too much photoshop today I think. I deleted the bad ones.

With planes that move in the right direction! God I'm so tired.

aabra I wrote a quick and dirty guide to renaming your roms using clrmame pro here, look at my post in this thread

http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=421

If you need any help let me know, after you use clrmamepro a time or two you'll have it down.

Thanks joebell - I'll definitely take a look at it. I don't have the effort tonight to sort it all out but tomorrow I'm sure I will. :)

The themes (mame and sms) hadn't been approved yet and there were some *tiny* little touch ups that I wanted to make so I went ahead and deleted the old versions, touched them up a tiny bit and re-uploaded them.

10 points to anyone who can figure out what I changed. :) They're hard to see but I couldn't stop looking at the errors once I found them.

The theme has been approved! :) Download the arcade version (which is what most people probably want) here:

Thanks for adding the SMS section to the user created themes. Expect a bunch of converted themes uploaded today. :)

FYI, according to Mame32, After Burner is a clone. It is the Japanese version of After Burner 2 USA version. I don't think it matters either way but for those who want to go "cloneless" keep that in mind when you note your mame.xml doesn't contain an entry for After Burner.

Weird, I'd swear I'd played an After Burner arcade game in Canada too, I guess it was an After Burner 2? Who cares, same game anyway :).
