Love the new HS, it's great, personally this version feels more like a finished product, love the response out of games and like the way
i basically never see the desktop not too mention all the nice menus etc.

So these are just minor suggestions:

1. Not sure of the technical name, I think it maybe 'breadcrumbs', basically it would be nice to go back to the previous wheel in certain listings.

For example currently when i enter the mame wheel, press genre, press back - HS takes me back to the system wheel, it would be nice if I was back at the mame wheel (the last wheel I was on), the same for favourites.

2. This links to #1, toggle between favourites and main and genre and main, a single button press would be nice but otherwise an option in the menu:

#back to main wheel
#add to favourites

3. On the jump to letter menu it would be nice if holding left or right accelerated the scroll left and right

4. Maybe an icon or something showing already favourited games in the main list, perhaps a gold star by the name.

5. Indication of a game starting, it's already quick to load but some kind of
visual response would be nice and/or a noise.

6. Ability to select a start wheel. 9 times out of 10 I use MAME so have to
enter HS then select mame, be nice if there was a way of just setting HS so that it defaults to mame everytime but still means that I can have other emualtors (read: not just single wheel mode)

7. Inform the user that a game is not found. Currently if I select a game and HS cannot find the rom a blank screen briefly appears then i'm back to HS. I know what has happened but anyone else that uses the cabinet doesn't and usually hits the play button again and again thinking they've done something wrong. Nothing flashy or techy just a "Game not found".

8. Option to automatically remove games from list on the fly or manually. This links to #7, if a game is not found then as far as I see it there is no point having it in the list, be useful if a message displays after being informed that the game is not in the list to 'remove from list?' this will save manually editing the XML.

9.(this is how minor i'm getting now) The blue pointer arrow that indicats which game is currently selected. I like the new bobbing motion when tapping through the list, makes it feel more alive. Just would be nice if it looked a little better, its' just a simple blue at the moment, perhaps give it a little depth, gradients etc. Maybe different colors also for different systems.

10. Game sequels out of order, quite a few games that should appear in the order they were released show out of order, like 2,3,1 when it should be 1,2,3. For example check street fighter alpha series, the first entry is alpha 2, then alpha 3 then finally alpha 1.

11. Ignore 'The '

12. display the number of games in a given view.

Off Topic but is the Super Street Fighter II Turbo Theme not working for anyone else?

Dont have time to respond to each one but number 10 is doable. You have to set indexes to on for that system, then the games appear in the order of your xml. For #9 you can just make your own graphic. Nothing in HS is forced on you.

BBB..how do you "set indexes" can you explain more? I need to get this straight on my cab...

The docs talk about it in a couple areas but basically what happens is normally HS sorts your games for you, they will fall out of order in some areas like you mention just because of the programmings sorting methods. At this point HS also gathers up information about the letters of the first game of each letters so you can tap left or right to letter jump. This is the normal way.

Now in your case you want maybe all the street fighter games ever made to appear in a certain order on your list. Well obviously if HS sorts it for you then this aint gonna happen. So I came up with an idea to have HS not sort your list and just go off the order of your xml instead. But theres a big problem with this. Technically your games can be all jumbled up in the xml and HS wouldnt know how to jump letters anymore. This is where indexes come in. When indexes is set to true. Then HS will NOT sort your list automatically but will just order by the xml. Then inside the xml you have to manually tell HS where the first game for each letter is. Fortunately Hyperlist will do this for you. You can look a the default list that came with HS, look at the first game of each letter and you will see that its different than other games.

All that matters to you is that you set it to true in HyperHQ, its per system.. Now you can open your xml with an xml editor or something and move your games all around any way you want.

How about combining those into 1 idea: press=up one level, press+hold=top level. Maybe just hold for 1/2 second or something.

4. Maybe an icon or something showing already favourited games in the main list, perhaps a gold star by the name.

This would require HS to load your favorites into memory persistently, and then recursively scan against every load that it does to dynamically load the 'favorite' symbol. It would probably cause some slowdown.

If you use HyperLaunch it will tell you this- for regular launching, it doesn't- that's because HS isn't aware of what it's sending to the emulator
"emulator, game" is the same to HS as "emulator, missing game" is the same as "emulator". I think...

5. Indication of a game starting, it's already quick to load but some kind of

I personally don't like this idea (no offense) only because loading times are going to vary wildly depending on your system and on what system you're emulating. A sega Naomi game on a P4 is going to load incredibly slow (because the full file loads into memory), vs. moon patrol on mame on a core i7 where it'll be up in a fraction of a second. So do you then "force" your loading screen on faster computers that then have to wait for a loading screen even though the loading is finished? Just my .02$

I think those are good ideas.

SophT : I love both moon patrol and naomi games. lol
